Andy Reid 'going to look at everything' during bye week

Do you have confidence in Andy Reid’s ability to fix the Eagles?
Yes.
No.

Andy Reid faces two long weeks before the Eagles play the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 28. He said he's going to take the time to evaluate everything that has to do with the team. Here Some of his most pressing issues...

- Defensive coordinatoJuan Castillo and fourth-quarter defense: The Eagles surrendered a 10-point fourth-quarter lead on Sunday, meaning it's two weeks in a row in which the Eagles failed to a hold. When Reid was asked specifically about whether Castillo will still call plays, he responded, "that's the way I'm looking at it, as I stand here right now."

- Michael Vick's turnovers: Vick has 13 of the Eagles' 17 turnovers, including two interceptions on Sunday. "I'm going to look at all that stuff," Reid said. "I know we can get better at it. And we're going to get better at it."

- Playcalling: The Eagles' pass/run ratio has been out of whack, the linemen are struggling blocking and they lack big plays. Reid was asked if he'll take over playcalling duties from offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. “Listen, like I told you, I’m going to look at everything," Reid said. "I’m going to look at every aspect of it that we have. This covers it. I’m going to look at everything.”

- The pass rush: The Eagles have gone three games without a sack. For a defense built specifically to sack the quarterback, that's astonishing. The Eagles start three linemen north of 30, but Reid did not think they've become too old. "Old by play, I don’t think that right now," Reid said. "We’ve got to get a little better. But I don’t think that’s the reason, no.”

- Slow starts: The Eagles are being outscored, 26-7, in the first quarter. They seem to lack a sense of urgency. "We’re not executing. And then I have to go back and look at, are we giving the guys the right plays to get that done against whatever defense they’re playing against?" Reid said. “I think there’s a sense of urgency. I think the guys are playing hard. I think they’re doing those things. That’s what I see. Now we’ve just got to do better and that encompasses all of us. We’ve all got to do our job. Better take it up a notch.”

Why can't Reed fix the Ol problem??? Watching other teams who have key linemen injured they seem to come up with replacements who are adequate but the Eagles can't. We hold onto linemen for years who when called on can't block worth a damn. Its like a jail break our line doesn't slow down the rush even a little.

I think the team is a reflection of its starting quarterback, which is almost always the main player/leader of the team. #7 has been very inconsistent and sloppy and the rest of the team has followed suit. Paying attention to the details; keeping cool in the moment; making the smart plays. I really do hate writing this because I have been really impressed with how he turned his life around, and I've been rooting for him, but his play going back to mid-way through last season is reminiscent of the Atlanta years and I just wonder if we are now seeing the QB that he truly is. That is not to insult him personally but it's just what is being seen on the field. I agree that the head coach should bear some responsibility, but people forget that it's the players that make the coaches in the pro leagues, not the other way around. Reid can adjust and change playcallers all he wants, but if people are running 2 yards when you need 3 for a first down, ultimately it comes down to the player.

Listen Reid is the one who chose the offensive and defensive coordinators..Reid is the one who insisted on signing Vick...if he wants to look at things just look in the mirror...His arrogant know it all attitude didnt work in his personal life and it doesnt work on the football field...He needs to go as does Vick during the bye..clean house and start fresh even if we lose the last 10 games at least we can get a head start on the changes that we need.,.This organization is the laughing stock of the league..remember "GOLD STANDARD"..DREAM TEAM...DYNASTY IN THE MAKING???

I have some numbers for you. Reid's first year was 1999. During the years 2000-2004, the Eagles reached 11 or more wins all five years. In the years 2005-2011, the Eagles won 11 games only once in seven years, and never more than 11. In the last 22 regular season games, the Eagles are 11-11.

These numbers tell a story. Andy Reid's best years are well behind him.

Look at it this way: if the current Eagles have average or slightly above talent and are at .500, then he's probably an average to decent coach, getting out of them about what you can expect. If the Eagles have considerably above average talent, as many presume, then he's probably a below average coach. And if the talent is below average, well, then... whose fault is that?

    Bottom line...it's time!

Expect Vick and Reid to say that the bye week has helped them see what they are doing wrong. Then they will go out and implode against Atlanta.

"Sunday. "I'm going to look at all that stuff," Reid said. "I know we can get better at it. And we're going to get better at it."
Isn't thjaty what you said last year? This is who you are Andy. You can't fix that.

To answer a question by Tonguewagger: the Eagles sure did play a 3-4 defense under Dick Vermeil. Bergey, Bunting, Lemaster, Jerry Robinson. How'd you like to have a set of LBs like that?
