Andy Reid 'going to look at everything' during bye week

POSTED: Monday, October 15, 2012, 2:35 PM

Do you have confidence in Andy Reid’s ability to fix the Eagles?
Yes.
No.

Andy Reid faces two long weeks before the Eagles play the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 28. He said he's going to take the time to evaluate everything that has to do with the team. Here Some of his most pressing issues...

- Defensive coordinatoJuan Castillo and fourth-quarter defense: The Eagles surrendered a 10-point fourth-quarter lead on Sunday, meaning it's two weeks in a row in which the Eagles failed to a hold. When Reid was asked specifically about whether Castillo will still call plays, he responded, "that's the way I'm looking at it, as I stand here right now."

- Michael Vick's turnovers: Vick has 13 of the Eagles' 17 turnovers, including two interceptions on Sunday. "I'm going to look at all that stuff," Reid said. "I know we can get better at it. And we're going to get better at it."

- Playcalling: The Eagles' pass/run ratio has been out of whack, the linemen are struggling blocking and they lack big plays. Reid was asked if he'll take over playcalling duties from offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. “Listen, like I told you, I’m going to look at everything," Reid said. "I’m going to look at every aspect of it that we have. This covers it. I’m going to look at everything.”

- The pass rush: The Eagles have gone three games without a sack. For a defense built specifically to sack the quarterback, that's astonishing. The Eagles start three linemen north of 30, but Reid did not think they've become too old. "Old by play, I don’t think that right now," Reid said. "We’ve got to get a little better. But I don’t think that’s the reason, no.”

- Slow starts: The Eagles are being outscored, 26-7, in the first quarter. They seem to lack a sense of urgency. "We’re not executing. And then I have to go back and look at, are we giving the guys the right plays to get that done against whatever defense they’re playing against?" Reid said. “I think there’s a sense of urgency. I think the guys are playing hard. I think they’re doing those things. That’s what I see. Now we’ve just got to do better and that encompasses all of us. We’ve all got to do our job. Better take it up a notch.”

He'll go back, look at it, then say "we're fine there". 2013. The Reid Era ends.

Shovel pass, 1st and goal lineup empty backfield, or shotgun, same plays for 14 years. It was great 10 years ago, but everyone knows us. Does Andy have anything else in that big book of his ?

That book was tapped out long ago. He's been recycling for the past several years now, hoping no one will notice.

After watching what coaches of other teams do with less talent and more passion I think Andy is stale and has to go. I never thought I'd say this but it's time to call Bill Cower!

No! No Cowher, Billick or Gruden. I want the Cardinals D coordinator or someone else young and with a new philosophy.

Maybe it's time to give up on the 4-3. Have the Eagles ever in its 80 odd year history gone 3-4? The days of Reggie and Jerome are long, long gone. Time to give up the ghost.

A new coach may use McCoy effectively before Reid destroys him trying to use him as a fullback. Running backs have short careers and we're watching a brilliant one burn away.

Another way the game has passed Reid is the hurry up. He tries it, but it never seems to work with him. Maybe a new coach can teach Foles to do it before it's too late and he's too set in his ways.

Seeing as how we got DeMeco Ryans due to his struggles with the 4-3, i kind of hope we don't go to it. I like the way him and Kendricks are playing...but I have no idea why they don't speed the game up. Vick only looks dominant these days when they're in the muddle-huddle.

I heard someone say that he said he was going to do a better job, and that he takes full responsibility. And that he has to put his guys in a better position and the time's ours. Did you hear anything like that?

If Lurie has any vision at all, he would replace Andy IMMEDIATELY! Yes, it is difficult in the middle of a season, but Andy has demonstrated his ineffectveness for several consequtive years now. The talent level doesn't seem to matter anymore, which is a good indication Andy has lost his grip on the team. Every week there is a different breakdown and if you haven't noticed this team never seems to have a consistent flow, especally offensively. We keep hearing how the players love him, but performance speaks exactly the opposite. All we ever see from Andy as a coach is poor time management, poor play calling, inconsistent special teams, and excuses such as "we have to do a better job".
The most obvious error on Sunday was watching Vick miss 3 snaps in a row after receiving a vicious hit both high and low. He was obviously in brain distress and having spatial problems. For all of the timeouts Andy wastes for other stupid reasons he should have called a timeout to evaluate Vick after the first fumbled snap. He was cleary in a fog. He needed medical attention not another play on the field.

The players "love him" because he allows them to get away with slovenly practices and play. It's apparent they have no discipline and pi$$-poor execution. Which suggests Reid doesn't demand perfection in practice execution. Probably doesn't run plays over and over until they get it right and it becomes second-nature. No. One look at Reid's own physical appearance itself will reveal his disdain for perfection.

Groundbreaking insights from Reid. Maybe Romney's writing his press conferences for him. Because the depth of detail (We'll look at everything") is breathtaking!!!!

Who's brilliant idea was it to make an offensive line coach the defensive coordinator?
Have a look at that while your at it.....
