Saints assistant Dennis Allen will interview with the Eagles for their defensive coordindator opening this weekend, a league source confirmed.

Allen is also scheduled to meet with Denver for their opening, per Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com. Glazer reported that Allen would travel to Denver first and then head to Philadelphia. Eagles coach Andy Reid will be in attendance for the sit down.

The 38-year-old defensive backs coach has suddenly become a hot commodity. Allen has no prior experience as a coordinator, but the Saints secondary has had mild success during his three years of leadership.

Right now, Allen and Eagles senior assistant Dick Jauron are the only identified candidates for the Eagles' opening. Former Falcons and Seahawks head coach Jim Mora took his name out of the running for both the Eagles' and Broncos' openings. He was not considered a serious candidate for the Eagles job, team sources said.

Jauron interviewed with the Browns earlier this week and is said to be mulling over his options until Reid returns from vacation on Friday. Former Dolphins and Bears head coach Dave Wannstedt and former Cardinals defensive coordinator Billy Davis are interviewing with Cleveland today, according to ESPN.

There was a report from ESPN earlier Thursday that the Eagles had requested permission to interview Ravens linebackers coach Dean Pees. But two high-ranked league sources said that the Eagles had neither requested nor received permission to interview the one-time Patriots coordinator. Of course, that could change.

The Eagles could also be waiting to interview one of the coaches still in the playoffs. Nevertheless, they likely won't make a decision until after they talk with Allen, which would be Saturday at the earliest.

Stay tuned.
