Does Vick now own a dog? He's not saying

POSTED: Wednesday, October 10, 2012, 1:04 PM

Michael Vick declined to answer whether he owned a dog after he tweeted a photograph of him and his daughter at home Thursday night that included a box of Milk-bone dog biscuits.

“I’m here to strictly talk about football,” Vick said Wednesday at the NovaCare Complex. “What goes on in my personal life is not to be talked about. What’s most important right now is the Philadelphia Eagles and getting the win Sunday.”

The 3-2 Eagles host the 1-3 Lions at Lincoln Financial Field.

In the picture, captured by the sports blog Crossing Broad, Vick is looking at his Eagles playbook on his IPad while his daughter is working at the same table. To the right is the box, apparently opened. The tweet was later deleted and another similar photo was sent, this time without the box in the picture.

Vick is permitted to own a dog and has spoken openly in the past about wanted to obtain one for his family, especially his two daughters. Recently, he was asked by CNN’s Piers Morgan if he ever wanted to own a dog again.

“Maybe so,” Vicks said in July. “Being honest. Being candid. … I still deal with my kids each and every day, and for the last 3 years, not being able to have a dog because of my acts. ... I just don’t think that’s fair.

“It may be something that’s therapeutic in that for them and I can’t take that dream away from them. That’s selfish on my behalf.”

Asked what kind of dog he would prefer to own, Vick told Morgan that he would allow his children to choose, but that “it certainly won’t be a pit bull.”

The Eagles quarterback was unable to own a dog during a probationary period following his release from prison in May of 2009. Vick served 19 months in a federal prison for owning and operating a dogfighting ring. He remained under house arrest for an additional two months and ended his probation in July.

If his kids want a nice Golden Retriever I think a dog like that would be fine. I don't think his past life with dogs will suddenly be reborn.

The only thing on this planet dumber than Jeff McLane writing this story is my reading it and then commenting on it. Slow day, indeed.

I love how people compare his crime to child molestors. They must be the same people who call themselves parents to dogs. Get some perspective in your life. It's an animal, not a human. He's paid his debt to society, now leave him alone.

Yeah, a dog belonging to Vick would live a life we could only dream of - you dope. Dogs don't care if this loser has money or fame, which by the way didn't help out those other dogs. And for those of you claiming he's a changed man, trying to be a good father, blah blah - what, are you his best friend? You know nothing about this man, except that he tortured dogs to death - FOR FUN.

he didn't get a life sentence. he is allowed to own a dog. i seriously doubt he would be stupid enough to do anything to a dog, knowing all the haters are waiting for him to do so. no i am not a vick fan, but i don't think anyone should have to pay for mistakes for the rest of their lives.

the guy is just scum. bottom line. can't wait this dog killing cretin and his trusty sidekick fatman are out of here, so we can start liking football again. And no, idiots, his "one mistake" was kinda sick. drowning and electrocuting dogs who weren't strong enough to devour other dogs to kill them is hardly a simple "mistake".

You know what, just say that you don't like him for the real reasons that you dont like him, and stop hiding behind the dog issue. Stop acting as if dogs are THAT important in your life. When it's announced in PA that deer season is upon us, do you go into the papers calling all the deer hunter scum, while they are putting rounds between their eyes? Nope. Do you criticize every one that sets traps to kill mice? Nope. And last but most importantly, do you raise so much cain when your fellow humans are being killed and living in some of the conditions they are in North Philly? Nope. Guess these God's creations don't deserve as much as those dogs, right?

The law says he's allowed to have a dog. It appears he's obeying the law, why is this a story? Who cares what the internet mob says.

This isn't news. It wasn't news when the picture was posted. He is legally allowed to own a dog, and it truly isn't anyone's business if he owns one or not. This is America where you do the crime, you do your time, and you're given a second chance. This is his second chance, so let's allow his kids to enjoy their time, and possibly their pet, with their dad.

Let it go. He deserves to own a dog. The man has done a lot for PETA. He made a mistake and served his time for making that mistake. I think everyone needs to let it go!

Honestly, I blame the writers of this article. This is "troll media". It's not a story, nor is it a big deal. That's like reporting "Does Ben Rothlesberger have a girlfriend? He's not saying"....right...you don't care...and you shouldn't. The writers of this article knew the response that this would invoke and it was very irresponsible for it to have been written.

may he grab one of your dogs and force you to watch him drown or electrocute it...or better yet, feed it to a starving, aggressive pit bull. imbeciles.

He paid his penalty and his life is under a microscope. Let his kids have a dog if they want.
