Reid: Vick's our quarterback

Andy Reid was asked to clarify - again - if Michael Vick was still his starting quarterback after a response the Eagles coach gave during his Monday press conference was interpreted that Vick's job was in jeopardy.

"Michael's our starting quarterback," Reid said Wednesday.

Reid had actually addressed the confusion Monday afternoon during his radio show, saying that Vick was his quarterback, "period." Earlier that day, though, he made it seem as if Vick, who has turned the ball over nine times in three games, would be evaluated week to week.

"Right now, we're with Michael and that's what we're doing," Reid said Monday when he was asked how much longer before he may have to go with backup Nick Foles. "We'll evaluate as we go."

Reid said he spoke to Vick to assure him that he was still his starter.

"We spoke about it. It wasn’t anything serious," Vick said Wednesday from the NovaCare Complex as the Eagles prepared for Sunday night's game against the New York Giants. "We’re in a position where we have to prepare for this game and not [have] any outside distractions. We try to move forward.

"That's not what I had in mind," Reid said. "Derek explained to me how it was interpreted. I talk to Mike. ... Bad semantics there."

Still, many still believe that Vick will be on a short leash after struggling in two of the 2-1 Eagles' first three games. He was asked if he was worried about his job security.

"Not at all. I know it can be corrected," Vick said of his turnovers. "I know I can get my job done week in and week out. That’s what I’m focused on."

Vick is now 29th out of 32 in NFL QB rating..that's awful..Vick is even WORST than most of the rookie quarterbacks...what a waste of $100 million for Vick....LOL.

Vick is an old washed up, banged up fraud and at the BOTTOM of NFL QB ratings....hey SIX rookie QBB's are starting and RG111, Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson and others all have BETTER QB ratings than Vick....Foles will too.

I don't think coming in for Vick would be good for Nick Foles. But if Vick got hurt, I think that takes the pressure off Foles.

Hey Phil500, any bets on that being where he finishes? - I wouldn't want to be measured on my worst stretch of play - It'll even out in the end.

Didn't we here two years ago when it was "Kevin's our quarterback." Must be nice to recycle stories from the archives. No work required. You guys will have to keep Andy around so you won't have to actually write stories.

Even if he does get pulled, Ill bet Vick, coming out of prison, would have been more than happy just getting paid as a backup in the NFL. He's prob done more than even he expected. Nobody of his stature wants to be benched however, but keep up the turnovers and the heat just gets hotter with each mistake.

Thanks Andy.... We needed that clarification. I had to figure out how many times I need to cringe watching Vick get plowed into the earth...over and over and over and over again.

You'll never win the superbowl with him and he gets his kicks out of killing dogs. We'll never like the Eagles with this clown at quarterback. He makes Donovan McNabb look like a saint.

Can't wait until Sunday night. I hope by the start of the second quarter that Convick is done for the season. Enough said.

All Reid really said is that Vick is the starting QB, it what he did not say that is important. He did not say Vick is his starting QB FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON...like he said when he gave Vick the job over Kolb. That is the question the reporters need to ask next. Bet he won't give Vick that endorsement this time!

Vick says, "It can be changed." I say, "No it can't." He has unequivocally proven he simply CAN NOT process the mental part of being an NFL QB. Let's see if Foles is the real deal. The longer they wait the longer it will take to find out if we need to find another one. Heaven help us if Reid is still around and tries to draft one next year. Maybe a hidden gem playing for a Canadian college.
