FOXBORO, Mass. -- Michael Vick left tonight's preseason game against the Patriots after he was hit by Patriots linebacker Jermaine Cunningham.
He went to the locker room to have his ribs X-rayed, but the exam was negative, according to the Eagles. Vick has missed three games in each of the last two seasons because of rib injuries.
Vick played less than two series and was injured when he tried to throw a deep pass to wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Cunningham's helmet appeared to have hit Vick in the mid-section. Vick got up off the ground but was in obvious pain. He then took a knee.
Vick came out of the game after Eagles trainers looked him over. It's his second injury in two preseason games. He bruised his thumb in the opener against the Steelers. This injury appears to be more serious.
Rookie Nick Foles, who was expected to play only a quarter or so, took Vick's place under center.
