So, if you had the opportunity to come up with a new blog that would be featured on Philly.com and in the Philadelphia Inquirer, what would it be about?

What issues would it mine, what neighborhoods would it mind?

What is missing?

Are you satisfied with random playlists and fight songs. I'm not.

With the new year, it's resolution time, and one of mine is to make this blog work better, more like it used to be. I don't mean Back to the Future -- I don't think I'm doing full-time Blinq any time soon, but something more dynamic.

Lots of folks here have ideas what the blog could spend its energy on, but I want to hear from those who keep clicking here, hoping to find a light on, an idea percolating, some essential and surprising links.

So, again --  if you had the opportunity to come up with a new blog that would be featured on Philly.com and in the Philadelphia Inquirer, what would it be about?

Leave a comment, drop an email at blinq@phillynews.com. I'm seeking the wisdom of the crowd.

Your comments are as successful as Dubya's presidency, atkinson. What is the link to your blog, I would really love to check it out.

Hey Dan, b.at is just a neo-con wingnut who hangs out at Attytood and spews insipid comments on a daily basis. When it comes to b.at, the lightbulb is on but nobody is home.

I'd write a blog about liberals who don't know what "neocon" means.

How about just one conservative blog - to go along with the 7 or 8 liberal blogs you have now. That's what liberals would call "balance".

Ideally, the Inquirer would have bloggers for each region of the city, Northeast, South, West, etc. Then burbs too, Main Line, etc, to create a niche and hope for that niche advertising. I'd love for you to be part of that. But assuming, we aren't at that point yet, why not a blog of untold stories. The best Inqy columnist of the past were known for doing that. I think my dream job would be that, Dan, so I think you'd like it to. It helps your column because you're finding new stories, but whenever you come across any minutiae that might be indicative of a broader trend, you post it here. If other small community papers or blogs do it, you link out, hoping to get linked back - how many are saying how Web 2.0 is based. You go to a community meeting in Bustleton - blog post. You hang out at a park in Grays Ferry - blog post. Ooh, now that is something beautiful. ..Hire me to do it! Or, better yet, do it and do it beautifully. I know you can.

How about a blog dedicated to the plight of the Angry White Males in this society? Smerconish dropped the ball on that one.

I think Larry Kane has an innovative blog site that accommodates angry white men....... it includes pirates and an assortment of sock puppets.Sure these people probably need psychiatric help but on occasions they not only make sense but can be quite amusing. Larry, on the other hand is a bland blogger who is on a constant search for the meaning of life...............

ok, so add pirates and sock puppets. from the e-mail bag we have votes for community journalism, technology advice and old-school round-ups.

About Daniel Rubin
Since joining The Inquirer as a staff writer in 1988, Daniel Rubin has reported from 27 countries, but most of them were small. He's a metro columnist and has been the European Correspondent for Knight Ridder Newspapers. For two years he sat at home and wrote Blinq, the paper's first daily blog. Now we make him come to work. Dan began newspaper work in Norfolk and Louisville, Ky., after getting his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Northwestern University. He has lived in all four commonwealths, most recently in Pennsylvania. He teaches urban journalism at the University of Pennsylvania

Email Blinq here. Visit Blinq 1.0 here. My day job - Inquirer metro columnist - is here.
