The wrong explanation for Clayton's tragedy
As if the killing of Autumn Pasquale isn't horrible enough, some anonymous postings on this and other news sites insist that race is the reason for the 12-year-old Clayton, NJ girl's death.
Autumn was white. The two suspects are black. And for some people, this explains why she was strangled.
It's as foolish to judge public opinion by reading comments on websites as it is to judge people by race. So I won't go there.
I will say that in small-town Clayton on Tuesday, I saw blacks and whites united in their grief about the death of a fellow human being. This truth speaks more eloquently than handfuls of hateful words ever could.

hannibal barca - Apparently you have no grasp of what verbal tense is. There's a difference between 'is' and 'was'. But whatevs... keep blabbering away like the rest of the people on here desperate to get their $0.02 in.
- They knew each other, never said anywhere they were friends you babbling zilch
crenshaw2436 - How do you not have enough intelligence to realize that a friend would NOT kill you for a bike. You really needed someone to tell you that they weren't friends?
People like you blabbering and putting fake pictures for their avatar. Trying to make yourself look better than you are! MFPhils - What?? Where in those articles did it say they were friends? Maybe I am one of the dumb ones, but I am pretty sure it is you...
By the way, how would them being friends make it non-racial? You ever hear of luring, using, abusing, and all the while there's at least one "friend" in the relationship, right? MFPhils - Just take moment and think about all the stories that you have read on this site and when you were about to make a post the section was close to any comments!!!! This story SHOULD HAVE BEEN one of those stories where the SECTION IS CLOSE TO ANY COMMENTS. The editor of this site should be taken behind the woodshed and beaten for allowing this get out of hand just to generate readership and pushing the R- word. YOU SHOULD be ashamed of yourself. - Don't be so fast to toss out race as a factor. This goes to the core values and teachings of the parents. The fact that Autumn was murdered is likely proof that these two hooligans are raised as social misfits. LeT us get more details of exactly what happened, of course it will be the versions of the murderers, so perhaps we will never know. My guess is that race id a factor. DarnelX
- I can't believe someone took the comments seriously enough to actually write a mini-blog on it. Geez, people on the internet are people without inhabitions. There is absolutely no incentive think before posting, so people just fly off the hook.

See how ridic. that sounds, now?
- Slumlord, depending on your appearance, your apology might not be ridiculous. Like the author, we need to wait for the facts to develop, before rushing to judgment. We don't know if there was a racial component until/unless the murders tell us.
Jean Valjean - well....wait.. what about the white girl in Colorado that was just abducted and killed by a WHITE GUY ???? Why arent you stating that the white community has to step up and take responsibility for producing monsters? If you really want to talk profiles, most serial killers are white. What do you think about that? google it.
selophane43 - Serial killer? One person, a child, was killed, and it was local, not 2,000 miles away. Google that.
