"Swingers" bash a no go-go in West Deptford
The prospect of a bacchanal featuring “food…strippers and SEX all under one roof” proved way too wild for West Deptford, where police have shut down the party before it could get started.
Promoted online by something called “Strip Club Takeover,” the private event was to have been held December 3 at Club Champagne, a Crown Point Road establishment where the regular dancers have evocative names like "Cashmere."
In addition to chicken marsala and tortellini, the event’s offerings were to have included “couples play,” presumably not a reference to a theatrical presentation.
“The way it was advertised, there could have been problems,” township police chief Craig Mangano told the Gloucester County Times.
Speaking of swingers: Club Champagne was previously the site of a country/western bar that later turned into a gay disco.
And for a glimpse of what can happen when too much go-go hits a small town, check out this clip from Village of the Giants, a 1965 camp-fest about a gang of gargantuan, gyrating juvenile delinquents.
Yup. That’s Beau Bridges.
James is right, the public would have been put in danger if this party happened. Wait, what? TheDude
The only difference between what might have taken place at this event and Mr. Kennedy's and Mr. Clinton's past hanky-panky is that the spouses of the folks at the event would KNOW and be OK with what was going on. ObamaSolyndra- Difference is, my friend, neither Kennedy nor Clinton attempted to preach/legislate morality, as your icons regularly do. Mr. Gingrich was voting to impeach Clinton for getting a Lewinsky, the same time he's bangin' his mistress, as his wife struggles w/MS.
Not making excuses for Clinton/Kennedy, just pointing out the differences.
I love this clip. The first time I saw this film, though, I was wondering how the "giants" got their "clothes" to fit so well. An early version of "Project Runway?" fineprintJK1- pretty sure MST3K "did" this movie.
and it was excellent. ekw555
Prude puritan proto-fascists. Mr_Cool
It's heartening to see that the township has imposed someone's moral beliefs to forbid what consenting adults were planning to do in private. Undoubtedly, this is the highest and best use of West Deptford's tax dollars. There is no violent or property crime there. It's a rare bastion of full employment. There's no litter on the streets or sidewalks, not a pothole in sight. And all the children make the honor roll, achieve triple 800's on their SATs, and receive scholarships to Ivy League universities. chuck.goodwin
James, better shut down every restaurant, bar, frat house, stadium, arena, casino, night club, townhouse that has a party, alley way and vineyard so the public can stay safe. Whew, I'm glad you're in charge. TheDude
where's sarah palin and the tea pee..ers to promote abstinence? rubberguard- West Deptford is run by DEMOCRATS. Why aren't the Occukooks protesting at the White House?
According to James, it would have "raised eyebrowns".....Too funny! MORON! AXP33
I thought this was America... Consenting adults should be allowed to do with each other what pleases them. USAFirst1
james, what is the crime here? raynesrock
The promoter should have the event and force authorities to bring & prosecute charges. I see no laws being broken or ordinances being violated. It is a closed door, private party, being held by consenting adults. Are there liquor laws being violated??? A police chief not liking the activity at a party does not make it illegal. kelprod2
