Mystery Solved, Plane Departs

The City Hall Cessna: Gone before we knew ya.

Update: The City Hall Cessna has departed. The tiny plane's brief occupation, documented Monday in Blinq, ended shortly after it began when Nutter administration officials deemed the aircraft's presence a no-no given all the human occupiers still camping out on the other side of the building.

My colleague Bob Moran has a story today explaining whose plane it was, why it was there and why it left as quickly as it arrived. If only I'd stopped in at the protest sooner, or later: Apparently, the aircraft wasn't just hauled to the Hall; it arrived in parts and was assembled - over nearly fours - on the spot.

Gawkers may be able to get a look at the twin-engine beauty a few blocks away: The city relocated the plane to a parking lot behind the Criminal Justice Center.

Just like the human demonstrators, it will have 24/7 security.
