Chris finally called, but Steve won't call back.
Nearly three weeks ago, New Jersey's political odd couple became estranged after Gov. Christie took a cleaver to Senate President Sweeney's wish list/budget proposal.
This Republican spurning got the Democrat burning; Sweeney dissed his erstwhile ally in terms so deliciously unprintable the Star-Ledger newspaper had no choice but to print them all.
This week, apparently refreshed by his vacation, the normally combative governor sounds decidedly more conciliatory -- cuddly, even -- toward his South Jersey frenemy.
"We have a passionate relationship," Christie explained Monday. "Sometimes it gets overly emotional … sometimes in a passionate relationship you say things you don't mean."
So true.
