A Mother's Daughter

A VIP steps down to parent a parent.

A Mother's Daughter

Don't know much yet in the way of details, but my colleague, Jeff Gammage, has posted a story announcing the resignation of Temple University president Ann Weaver Hart.

She's leaving, reportedly, to move to Utah to care for her ailing mother.

I am fascinated and hope Hart will speak publicly about her decision.

Having recently waded into the issue of elder care, I was shocked at the volume of response from accomplished Baby Boomers taking on a second job of parenting their aging parents.

Many offered advice as I navigate options as an only-child living 600 miles from my sixtysomething folks. Others shared prayers. No one had easy answers to questions about the sacrifices made and tears shed when the roles get reversed.
