Sole Searching

How rare is Beef Wellington around these parts?

That's an easy one. Go to MenuPages, and when you see the "find-a-food" window, type in the pastry-wrapped tenderloin named after Arthur Wellesley, aka the First Duke of Wellington. In Center City, three places honor Arthur: Finnigan's Wake, Lacroix and Standing O.

A naan in the Northeast? How about Azzad, Kashmir Garden and Lucy's. Moussaka in the Main Line? Try Al Dar and Cafe Fresko.

Philadelphia, or 1,400 of its restaurants, is the latest addition to the MenuPages database. The New York version attracts 800,000 visitors a month. The site shares menus from around the city and suburbs, and asks users to leave ratings and reviews once they've eaten at the establishments.

The attraction, it seems to me, is that you can search by style of restaurant, locale, and dish, rating and hours of service.

Frog in Fishtown? Not yet. But you've got your pick of places in Chinatown, from Indonesian, to Thai, to sauteed Mandarin style.

I searched for Spaghetti and Crabs. No luck.

Where's my Grandmother when I need her?

What's weaker than weak?! Two Jewish restaurants in the Northeast Sea of Galilee? One Korean in New Little Seoul on Castor? Three IHOPs that qualify as diners in the dinerest section of Philly? Did somebody short these guys on mileage allowance? C'mon, Dan. These guys know less than the soused brat from Esquire who described the Grey Lodge as situated in a "decrepit neighborhood" on the "far reaches" of the Northeast.

menupages is a really good site to go to. the only thing i have a bone with are some of the restaurants are closed down in boston on their site. I hope they update it more but with all these menus I cant complain too, much lol.
