You write a metro column, and you wind up having to leave lots of good stuff on the cutting-room floor.

Like what former Roots bassist Leonard Nelson Hubbard's been cooking up.

I couldn't find a way to mention what he says will be the first CD he is producing, for healer/artist/former-female-funk-band-pioneer A. Marcy Francis.

Just finishing the artwork now, says The Hub, who was the subject of today's column. The CD will be called Reachin Higher, after a song he wrote by the same name. He wrote three for the project. Out this fall.

He's also working on his first solo disc, and has some bold-name pals from his stadium days offering to pitch in, such as Dave Matthews.
