Stacey Dash's Romney Problem

"Vote for Romney. The only choice for your future."

With a single tweet, actress Stacey Dash blew up the Twitterverse, igniting a full-on backlash  -- so much so that she went on CNN's Piers Morgan show this week to defend her choice of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Just why would Dash's endorsement be controversial? Is it because she's an actor and Hollywood votes overwhelmingly Democratic, Clint Eastwood notwithstanding? Or is it because she's black, so it's assumed she should have an allegiance to an African American president? Or is it because Dash -- who played Dionne, the materialistic sidekick to Alicia Silverstone's Cher in the 1995 hit, Clueless -- recently quit the VH1 hit Single Ladies and is jobless?

As one tweeter put it: "You're an ‘You’re an unemployed black woman endorsing Mitt Romney. You’re voting against yourself thrice, you poor beautiful idiot."

Clueless, maybe, but certainly no idiot. Truth is, Dash has a constitutional right to express herself -- and her choice -- just like Romney t-shirt wearing teen Samantha Pawlucy does. After all, this is America. We should be encouraging citizens to excercise their freedom of choice, not discouraging it.

And to the haters who disagree, I've got two words for them: "As if!"

Watch Dash, who voted for President Barack Obama in 2008, defend her endorsement of Romney below.

As soon as black person voices an opinion contrary to the accepted Democratic Party/NAACP/Rainbow Coalition/Sharpton/Jackson "Thought and Speech Police" they are immediately branded a "TOM" or a race traitor.

The liberal left tells us how "tolerant, open minded, and diverse" they are... as long as everyone all thinks the same liberal thoughts...

Conservatives have always had a funny definition of freedom of speech: they seem to think that it means they can say whatever they want without fear of anyone responding negatively. Stacey Dash is of course perfectly free to voice her opinion, and vote for whoever she wants, no one is saying otherwise. And everyone else is perfectly free to call her an idiot for it. And she is an idiot.

Amen! And the funny thing is, if she, as a black woman, tweet her support for President Obama, the same malcontents in this thread who are praising her would be hurling all manner of racial invective her way. Talk about hypocrites.

"Talk about hypocrites." Except that you have no prove of your outlandish claim. Instead, what we have with this case, is another supreme example of the outright hypocrisy and disgusting behavior of the left. The party of supposed tolerance will not hesitate to insult and castigate anyone, they deem straying from the plantation, as Herman Cain put it.

You're a moron. The proof can be found in the comments section of any article, in any paper, that even suggests that a black person might support President Obama. Oh, and "prove" is not the word you were looking for. Oops--as a liberal, I guess I have to be tolerant of the imbecilic, too, in which case I probably shouldn't have pointed that out. My bad.

I am curious. Why is it that anyone who disagrees with the left is an idiot or stupid? What do you consider smart? Is someone who simply does as they are told smart? Is it smart to look at each choice and decide what benefits you? Is it smart spend money you do not have? Is it smart to buy a house that you can not afford? Is it smart to bankrupt the country?

Well, even though she's a misguided Romney supporter, I get the sense from your postings on these boards, that you are way, way beneath her, and she wouldn't touch you if you were oxygen and she were dying of asphyxiation.

    Hi,
Stacey has the guts and the conviction to speak her true feelings without fear of being intimidated or threatened. Threats and scare tactics are the usual, typical axpected response from the types who simply can't live with someone else in the world disagreeing which is exactly why the world is in danger from Iran.
By the way, I am definitely not Israeli but Israel has had nuclear bombs since 1954 ( that's 58 years!), and NEVER EVEN ONCE threatened to use it. Iran didn't even finish one bomb and has already threatened three countries with nuclear attacks while Mr. Obama plays with them for almost four years, thus giving them plenty of time to complete their bomb and carry out their threats! So I don't blame Stacey one bit for wanting someone who wishes to protect the United States.

I've always loved stacy Dash, she can support who she wants. But it troubles me that she is choosing a candidate and it doesn't seem as if she actually knows all of the issues and where the candidate stands on them. With her access, I am suprised that she appears to be such a low information voter. I say that because i've been to Mitt's Website and i'ved listen to him speak and he chages direction faster than you can flick a light switch. Have you seen is position on abortion? He is actually on both sides. So a man who will say anything to get elected is a man who can't be trusted. Thats all i'd say to Ms. Dash.

This includes the crudes in DC who are suppose to be civilized and educated. Peope within families will be subjected to this also. Let us hope the great Obama doesn't get reelected or all civility as we know it will cease. May god help us.

It really is a Terrible thing to be Black.. You are not expected to have an individuality of thought or conviction. You're supposed to automatically be Democrat, Always vote the black candidate and in a school environment, you're supposed to always speak in bad diction, listen to rap, play basketball and never study or you're a 'Tom'.. Such a miserable group of losers-- always wanting to hold their own people down

thank you for this posting Annette John-Hall! I do not understand the attacks, but I have to ask this question: Martin Luther King's "I had a dream speech" laid out an America that painted a picture that no one honestly thought they could see within a life time. Yet we have a black president who was elected by a solid majority. Is not the nest step to truly on MLK's dream path the right for people to endorse and vote for people based on what they believe? Is this not another step on that path? This young lady says she made the decision because she disagrees with Obama on his record and thinks Romney can do better. She is a successful woman of color, educated, articulate, and independent. Is her decision not the next major step on MLK's path? Is not true equality being judged and judging others on their actions? Disagreeing and still getting along is the true measure of where we are.

How dare you quote MLK as a justification to voting for a man who until recently wouldn't have you as a member of his religion. What a stupid woman

The fascists are coming unhinged. We are going to have violence in the streets when Obama loses and much of the responsibility will fall with the liberal media for fanning the flames of racism and class warfare.

It is hilarious that the right wing numbskulls cannot understand why the vast majority of African Aericans vote Democratic. Could it be because of Nixon's southern strategy where every right wing racist opposed to the civil rights act of 1964 became a Republican? Why should they even consider a Republican given the history of pandering to racists and right wing lunatics since Nixon was elected.
