Michael Vick and Andy Reid
Michael Vick's monster contract brings up one question -- what's Andy Reid doing?

FACT No. 1: the Eagles’ offensive line is a mess.
FACT No. 2: the Eagles sign Michael Vick for $100 million over six years.
REACTION: Don’t you have to wonder if Andy Reid is making the same mistake Buddy Ryan made with Randall Cunningham -- simply hand him the ball and expect the quarterback to pull the rabbit out of the hat every other down.
Buddy, a defensive genius, thought you could put milk cartons out there for an OL and Randall would get it done. Surely Andy Reid, a former lineman himself, knows better than that.
Doesn't he?

Vick is a pretender not able to beat well coached teams in consecutive weeks which menas failure in the playoffs. Against Green Bay last year he was awful. He is older now, prone to injury, he is not a leader, and he is not a student of the game. He is not a general who can lead you into the war of the NFL playoffs. Forh im to be given a huge contract show just how dysfunctional the Eagles are and this will not be remedied until Reid is fired. The only problem is that no high quality new coach would want Vick to be his qb for 5 years. uts- What is he pretending at? He was rated as a top five qb last year. His teammates and peers respect him. What inside info do you have regarding his leadership capabilities?

Freed up 1.6 million in cap space with this move. Don't know where that leaves us in total cap space to extend DJ. if we can trade Hanson, that'll free up another 2 mill or so. Who has a large salary that is in danger of getting cut? Laws? JP? Commish
$100 million quarterback, 10 cent offensive line. RockStar
the key is that 40 million is the guaranteed number..If for whatever reason , Mike Vick does not work out after a couple of seasons, one would hope there's still so much national appeal that he would have the strong trade value...But the key is as his burst receeds some in the coming years, he retains enough quickness to stay mobile behind the line of scrimmage...Let's hope the o line gels and matures together to keep him in one piece. bearsfriend
It's all going to be fine ... don't stress on the details folks ... none of us cash ever imagine what $100,000,000 even looks like ;-) petergou
I just hope he stays healthy because that line is just an open gate right now. Jamal Jackson should be starting and Kelce should just learn how to be a great center. We have too much at stake to start two rookie linemen and a new left guard. Heck even Herremans is out of his comfort zone. wame440
So let's start Mike Kafka. It's ok if he gets killed. Byter- This is what I don't get: The Eagles pay Vick $100 Mil but don't sign a vet right tackle when they know they're going to be starting a rookie right guard. Another game like thurs. night and Vick will be earning $100 Mil on injured reserve. Tyson Clabo got 5 years, $25 mil. The Eagles should have beat that deal and they still would have had money to get a good vet linebacker to mentor Casey Matthews, instead they signed Nnamdi when they already had Asante and DRC. It didn't make sense. Now, with a week to go before the regular season, they're re-shuffling the line.
Oh Please, Against Green Bay one of the most reliable kickers in Football missed two field goals and the Eagles loss by 5 points. Are we holding Vick now responsible for missed field goals?
Had Akers made common yardage field goals, the Eagles win that playoff Game.

O-line schmo line. He could have an all world o-line and Vick ain't succeeding in the playoffs. He is a highlight film not a leader, a film clip not a discplined student, and a man who failed us big time at home against Green Bay last year in the playoffs. He did not get us past the first playoff game. He is a convicted felon. He is a guy who we want in the pocket but is a horrendous pocket passer. He still cannot read defenses, he is vulnerable to the blitz and he usually does not see it coming, and he is old and often injured. And if he fails, we will have excuses like it is the o-line's fault or the wrs fault or the lack of a running game. It will never be Vick's fault. Vick is an utter media hype who never will be able to guide a team well into the playoffs. 40 million big ones are guaranteed and it is enough to make me sick. Biggest mistake in frachise hisotry which is saying something. uts- Vick didn't fail 'us' in the playoffs, the 'team' lost a close game. See Dexter post above. Also Vick got a falcons team coached by Jim mora to the nfc championship game, so I think he can guide a team 'well' into the playoffs.
The Eagles had to take the shot.Vick has shown the kind of up side potential that dictates that kind of money.Who else are you going to get ?? Would it be better to keep and pay Kolb less ??He's helped to attract the talent we just signed. We all have our fingers crossed.
Success can be as much of a challenge as failure.Either way he's been there and done that. Ernie Garman
