Road closures, transit info for 2016 Made in America concert
Set-up for the 2016 Made in America festival, which takes place Labor Day weekend on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, is underway.
Road closures for the event started Sunday in advance of the two-day music festival. The bulk of the closures continue through Sept. 6, with most roads expected to be open by 5 a.m. for the Tuesday morning rush. Motorists should expect delays in the area leading up to and throughout the event.
A number of SEPTA routes will be adjusted, with extra service on some lines and detours on others.
There will be a secure perimeter around the festival.
Here's what you need to know about getting to and around Made in America, including street closures, parking restrictions and public-transit changes:
Closed as needed starting Aug. 28 at 7 a.m.:
- Two lanes of Eakins Oval in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, until Sept. 6 at 11:59 p.m.
Closed starting Aug. 29 at 7 a.m.:
- Spring Garden Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway
Parking banned starting Aug. 30 at 7 a.m.:
- Pennsylvania Avenue from 22nd to 23rd Streets (south side) and on Park Towne Place from 22nd to 24th Streets (north side), until Sept. 6 at 11:59 p.m.
Closed starting Aug. 31 at 10 a.m.:
- Benjamin Franklin Parkway inner lanes between 20th Street and Eakins Oval
Closed starting Sept. 2 at 10 a.m.:
- Parkway outer lanes between 20th Street and Eakins Oval
- 23rd Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and the Parkway
- 22nd Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and the Parkway
- 21st Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and Winter Street
- Kelly Drive outbound between the Parkway and Fairmount Avenue
Closed starting Sept. 3 at 10 a.m.:
- The entire Parkway from 20th Street to behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art
- 21st Street between Winter and Spring Garden Streets
- 22nd Street between Race Street and Fairmount Avenue
- 23rd Street between the Parkway and Fairmount Avenue
- 24th Street between Fairmount and Pennsylvania Avenues
- Spring Garden Street between 20th Street and the Parkway
- Kelly Drive between 23rd Street and Fairmount Avenue
- Martin Luther King Jr. Drive between the Falls Bridge and Benjamin Franklin Parkway
- Pennsylvania Avenue between Hamilton and Fairmount Avenues
- 2000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue (eastern half of block open to allow access to Whole Foods)
- Park Towne Place between 22nd and 24th Streets
- Interstate 676 westbound off-ramp at 22nd Street
Parking banned starting Sept. 3 at 10 a.m.:
- Pennsylvania Avenue between 22nd Street and Fairmount Avenue (south side)
- Winter Street between 20th and 22nd Streets (both sides)
- 20th Street between Vine and Callowhill Streets (east side)
- 21st Street between the Parkway and Race Street (both sides)
- 22nd Street between Winter and Spring Garden Streets (both sides)
- Park Towne Place between 22nd and 24th Streets (both sides)
SEPTA service
- Regional Rail: Trains will run on regular weekend schedules, some some additional late-night trains for the festival
- Subways and trolleys: Will run on weekend schedules, with some extra Broad Street and Market-Frankford Line trains
- Buses: Detours will be in place for Routes 43 (starting Monday at 7 a.m.); 38 (starting Wednesday at 10 a.m.); 7, 32 and 48 (starting Thursday at 7 p.m.) and 33 (starting Friday at 10 a.m.)
Ride sharing
- Lyft is partnering with the festival to offer attendees free or discounted rides home. The coupon code — for up to two rides of up to $10 — will be shared onsite and through a push alert on the app.
Bike sharing
- Indego's station at the Art Museum is out of service until Sept. 7.
- The closest bike-share stations to the festivities are at 26th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, 22nd and Hamilton Streets, 21st and Winter Streets, and 19th and Vine Streets.
