Online meeting tonight on Pa. Turnpike Bridge toll

An online information meeting is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday to discuss the new westbound toll on the Pennsylvania Turnpike bridge over the Delaware River in Bucks County and explain how a new cashless tolling system will work for those without E-ZPass.

You can join the interactive meeting at www.nocashzone.com and also view a video of the new toll collection system there.

During the online meeting, Turnpike Commission CEO Mark Compton will discuss the new toll, how cashless tolling works and what payment options will be available.

Participants can ask questions and get answers from a Turnpike panel after the presentation.

Cashless tolling is slated to begin Jan. 3 on the bridge.

Drivers without E-ZPass will pay through a system that will snap a photo of the vehicle's license plate and mail a bill to the vehicle owner.

Cars with E-ZPass will be charged a flat toll of $5 while those billed by their license plates will be charged $6.75.

The toll will be collected westbound from those headed from New Jersey to the Pennsylvania Turnpike and, eventually, I-95.

The new bridge toll is one element of the $1.4 billion project to connect the Pennsylvania Turnpike and I-95.
