DRPA board gets a new face

The Delaware River Port Authority got a new designee for Pennsylvania's state treasurer today, pharmaceutical executive Osagie Imasogie.

Treasurer Timothy Reese had been attending DRPA board meetings himself, DRPA spokesman Kyle Anderson said Thursday, and Imasogie will attend meetings and act in the treasurer's place. Pennsylvania's treasurer has an ex officio seat on the 16-member board, which is equally divided among New Jersey and Pennsylvania representatives.

The Inquirer profiled Imasogie and the company he founded, Phoenix IP Ventures, almost 11 years ago, and highlighted his business model, acquiring compounds and technologies abandoned by big pharma to match them with smaller companies that might continue the research. As a lawyer he specialized in corporate finance, taxation and intellectual property. Along with founding Phoenix IP, Imasogie, who has an office in the Navy Yard, has a length resume.

  1. executive chairman  of Iroko Pharmaceuticals

  2. chairman of iCeutica Inc.

  3. previously a senior employee at GlaxoSmithKline, DuPont Merck  and Price Waterhouse

  4. post-graduate degrees from the London School of Economics and the University of Pennsylvania Law School

  5. adjunct professor and member of the board of overseers at Penn's law school.

"His accomplishments as an entrepreneur and innovator will bring the kind of energy and willingness to explore new approaches that will result in tangible benefit to the Authority," said Ryan Boyer, the DRPA board's chair.
