30th Street Station gets direct bus service from New Jersey

New Jersey Transit buses will begin going as far as 30th Street Station starting today.

The bus routes provide another, cheaper alternative to PATCO for people looking to get between New Jersey and Center City. Currently, nearly 30,000 people commute from Camden County to Philadelphia, according to 2014 U.S. Census numbers. Another 18,750 make the trip to the city from Burlington County.

The route change will affect the 414 bus, which terminates at the Moorstown Mall, and 417 bus, which terminates in Mount Holly. A newly created 555 bus will run between 30th Street Station and the Avondale Park and Ride in Sicklerville. The three routes will serve Market Street, JFK Boulevard and 30th Street. That new route, the 555, will only run during peak hours and  won't stop at the Greyhound Terminal in Philadelphia or the Walter Rand Transportation Center in Camden.
