This guy is the reason why i will not be renewing my subscription to the daily news after close to 10yrs. I can only wish that they would have this open chat with him in the evening instead of 11am on a Tues, I have some questions that I would love to hear his answers on...

I'm posting here because the racist Daily News closed the comment section on the column. Why does he 'hate' you, you ask? He didn't know you... but maybe a few other names went through his head... Chuck Cassidy, John Pawlowski, Stephen Liczbinski... don't know them? They are dead cops... dead simply for no other reason than wearing a badge. Maybe your attitude from the get go influenced your actions... before he even came over, you already worried whether you'd 'live or die'... I don't recall any car stop in recent history ending with a dead unarmed driver.... not the case with Officer Chris Matlosz of Lakewood, NJ though...

This guy is clearly a joke.. For starters, who has a chat at 11am on a Tuesday?? I wish I could of been a part of it, but that thing called work had gotten in the way. Another attempt to get your name out there by using the ever so famous "RACE CARD". Get over it. Maybe when the officer got shotgun bullet in the jaw at point blank range he decided to take a tougher stance in certain neighborhoods. Maybe I should of thrown the "RACE CARD" when I got a gun pulled on me at an intersection in West Phila. Im beyond sick of hearing about this. If that neighborhood you were driving through wasnt destroyed by crime and drugs, maybe we wouldnt have this problem. I havent heard of this occuring in the suburbs or other parts of the city. Maybe if people were not shooting at cops on a daily basis we wouldnt have this problem also. Look at the big picture and see where the real problem lies before you play the victim. Thank the people who ruin these neighborhoods before you try and make a name for yourself insulting the people who try and protect them. Solution- Dont drive you BMW with out of state tags through known drug areas, stick to the regular areas, or try and fix the real problem. PROFESSIONAL VICTIM is what you appear to be..

I am sorry that you had this unfortunate encounter with this officer, it should have never happened. Always two sides to a story, and we never got to hear his. We can't make excuses for anyone who abuses their authority, whether it be a police officer, city editor, anyone. That being said, the only reason you are able to drive in the city, walk to a store and sleep in your bed safely at night is because of the police. 99% great officers, Mayor Nutter doing an excellent job weeding out the rest. Take all of the police off the street for even an hour, and you would be hiding behind your desk. Crime is rampant almost everywhere in the city, and the burbs. White, black, brown and yellow criminals, doesn't matter color, all trying to take what you and I have. Police can't be there all the time, but when you pump your gas and nobody jacks you up, it because the cowards that prey on the innocents are, and should be scared to death, that a fine officer like Rich and other off duty officers of any color, are also filling up, out of uniform and would not hesitate a second to save your life if the situation arose. God forbid that should ever happen to you, but if it ever does try calling your editor, then 911, and see who gets there first.

bravo,on that apology.Im more scared of city police then anyone at this point.Your a typical city cop..First off the poster below said an officer actually wanted to inform his mother of his death. An im sure that officer would take a bullet for him too, sure i bet..

why dont you rat out the cops raping handcuffed women first,an stop messing with law abiding people second an just maybe, maybe catch a real criminal..Cause people these days tend to pull out there cameras when they see cops saving someones life.an so far the only videos i see are of philly officers having the audacity to pull a gun on a 12 year old girl with his hero partner in the middle of a gas station..

bravo bravo officer your such a big man you are, whatever would i do without you..? your just a physcopath with a badge..id rather not have you,my boyfriend carries a gun hes all i need..Can i get a tax deduction if i dont need your help..??? mayor ??

I remember Mr. Hill from the metro where he wrote an article about overrated white people. This guy is hateful man who acts like an iron fist covered in a velvet glove. The tax payers of Philadelphia are going to pay this man for something that seems extremely one sided and manufactured. Is the officer going to be able to tell his side of the story. I am really ashamed of Mr. Hill and the court system that made a blind decision in his favor that harmed the Philadelphia community, tax payers, and the police. The Police should be honored not bashed. If it wasnt for them Phildelphia would be total chaos.

It looks Mr. Hill edited this chat so that only the small amount of people that agreed with him could voice an opinion.

Once again Philly.com and MLH showed their bias with this so-called chat while picking and choosing what questions were let through. Hope you enjoyed your lovefest with your supporters because there isn't many of them once you leave that building and the internet. Oh, and next time try to be on time when you schedule a chat.

I love it how 90% of the questions he was willing to answer were ones in which they either agreed wholeheartedly with his article, or ones where the questioner essentially kissed his arse. Not once did he answer a question which addressed the fact that he was stoking the flames of racism with his inserted derogatory comments about Mayor Nutter's "white laws" or the fact that whites had nothing to do with this case.

Please backup your numbers on white people carrying drugs in their car vs. black people getting pulled over more. If the white people don't get pulled over how are their any numbers on the drugs they have. And why are you references NJ highway numbers for an event that happened on the drug ridden streets of North Philadelphia. Also, my girlfriend is black so I am not some racist just getting angry at you, you are using statements without facts to support something that happens to everyone (yes even i get pulled over there when I drive my nice car) in North Philadelphia?

Lamont, I always knew you were a racist. This incident brought your true colors to light. Obviously, you cry black to get what you want. You are a disgrace. I am disgusted with Fox News and this just made me watch another news station. What really were you doing there? Dropping off a friend doesn't cut it. It is a drug infested section of the city. You are just another piece of trash that crys I'm BLACK.

Wow what a waste of time and space. Why have a chat with a race baiter, if he is unwilling to answer any meaningful questions? Just gonna take softballs MLH?? You are a coward and a liar. You are in it for your own gain. You now have all the credibility of Rev. Al Sharlatan, good company huh? See you in the Metro paper by next week.

Was it just last year that a Phila. Police officer one of the North Phila districts was telling a reporter that he is racist? When I, an AA, get pulled over by the patrol car, I am checking to see if the cop is polite or rude. The biggest problem with society as a whole is that we let stress or past experiences interfere with our jobs, views on race, and class.

Really precious that Mr. Hill, who sees EVERYTHING through a racial prism, and cannot help his innate racism, is being brought in as an INKY contributor -- particularly if he will mostly provide commentary on racial issues.

This ought to be good, folks...

Get over it Marc... There are better ways to make a name for yourself out there than trying to rally the troops on this overblown non-issue.

The cop is an Uncle Tom because he is being controlled by a white person. He is acting under him out of acceptance and intimdation which transforms him from his true self into an Uncle Tom.

I generally think that some writers on here refer to racism and see it in every aspect of life, but I do think there's some validity to the point of racism within the police. Of course, I think there's more to it than mere racism, though, too. Any cop who patrols a certain high crime neighborhood is going to 1) eventually develop some kind of distrust when he arrests criminals of the same skin color day in and day out or witnesses a certain amount of brutality within a certain culture on a regular basis, and 2) will have to desensitize him- or herself in order to do the job for years. Even someone who starts out wanting to help the community can change over years of witnessing brutal acts by one particular group. We saw it with Ryan Philipe's character in "Crash" (even though he wasn't in it for years) and especially with Richard Gere's character in "Brooklyn's Finest." Those characters explore what really goes on in the mind of a cop. So, while some cops may actually be very racist before entering the force, not all mean to be. I'm not going to excuse police brutality, but after watching "Night Catches Us," it's not hard to wonder why there are such problems between the cops and the residents of the neighborhoods they patrol. People need to look beyond skin color and uniform and start helping each other if they want to see something positive happen. Beyond the skin color, we all have the same color blood.

I don't think this is a racial issue, I think it's a Crime and Policing "us against them issue". The Police who are outmanned take shortcuts and worse, but they do what they do to make some attempt to protect the Community that is under all out assault by thugs. And then the Community (and elite white liberal) "Doctrine" is to largely side with criminality, particularly on the Editorial page and Academia.

Do minorities want the police to be more pro-active, and possibly offend a few people? Or do they want the police to do nothing? Make up your mind already. Case closed.
