Lurie's final walk to Reid's office

Monday, December 31, 2012, 3:43 PM
His office? Your office? “His office,” Jeffrey Lurie said. “When Andy and I talked, especially about these kinds of things, it was usually in his office. I just thought you showed respect by doing it that way.” It was coming up on 9 o’clock on Monday morning. That is... Read more

Players feel sad and guilty

Monday, December 31, 2012, 11:49 AM
Cullen Jenkins could just shake his head and say, "He took all of the heat for all of our failures on the field." And so it went, on the day Eagles fired coach Andy Reid. The press was allowed into the NovaCare Complex at 11 am, an hour after Reid addressed the team following his firing. Several... Read more

According to an Eagles team official, here is the rough timeline of what has happened so far on this momentous Monday morning at the NovaCare Complex: Reid and team owner Jeffrey Lurie met between 8:30 and 9:00. It was at this meeting, the official said, that Lurie informed Reid that he was fired... Read more

Andy Reid's final defeat

Sunday, December 30, 2012, 3:53 PM
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- For years, I had this vision of how Andy Reid would walk away. I carried it until pretty recently, until about 2010. The way I figured it, the final camera shot would go like this: Reid finishing the press conference after the Super Bowl, finding his wife, Tammy, in the crowd... Read more

Do not be fooled by resurgent Eagles' defense

Thursday, December 13, 2012, 11:53 PM

Chaos now defines Reid's final days

Monday, December 3, 2012, 10:35 AM
The Eagles are gripped now by chaos. There is no other way to look at it. With four games remaining in a down-spiraling season, just hours after a late-night loss in Cowboys Stadium, they abruptly fired defensive line coach Jim Washburn, apparently telling him not to let the door hit him in the wide-9... Amid the wreckage, daydreaming about Bryce Brown

Sunday, December 2, 2012, 11:37 PM
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Time moves so slowly now. For the Eagles, for all of them, the end cannot come soon enough. The destruction has been wrought, and the smoke floats lazily over the ruins, and the only thing preventing the cleanup from beginning is the four remaining games on the schedule. Time, then... About this blog
Rich Hofmann arrived at the Daily News in 1980 for a job whose status was officially designated as "full-time, temporary." A senior at Penn at the time, he was hired to fill in on the copy desk during a staff illness. The notion of him covering the Eagles or being a columnist did not exist in anyone's imagination. It was supposed to be six weeks and out, but he never left. It is only one of the reasons why so many people have concerns about him as a potential house guest. Rich has blogged the postseasons of the Flyers and Eagles. E-mail Rich at hofmanr@phillynews.com Reach Rich at hofmanr@phillynews.com.
