The Tonner thinks the moves are done. There aren't really any coaches left to fire. If there were any safeties or CBs waiting in the wings they would be playing already. Sad state of affairs. Howie and Andy have really stocked this team.

I keep reading/hearing that Reid was because of Jim Johnson.

So, let me ask, exactly how many points did Jim Johnson score when we were one of the top scoring teams in the league?

Even insofar as field position is concerned, Johnson had a bend-but-don't break defense and stiffened inside the 20. So, he rarely won the battle of field position. He was great at shutting the door.

McNabb and Westbrook were responsible for the years of success. They won in spite of Reid (as you can now all see), not because of him.

You gotta get rid of Andy Reid and Marty Morningweg(sic), before a new climate can begin. NFL head coaches have a window in which their "stuff," or philosophy is effective. Sorry Coach Reid, its been a good run, but I think its time.

We can only hope it is Howie....A GM MUST be a football guy....Then of course AR, Washburn and April must go...

Hopefully Andy FINALLY takes his own quote seriously and resigns. He has said "Ahem, I ahem take full responsibility ahem for ahem that" So how about taking full responsibility for the horrible draft picks, the outdated philosophy of small and quick linemen, the revolving door coaches this season and the team's horrible play.

I said 4 years ago that Andy should be gone. I could see the writing on the wall and knew that 4 years from that time the team would be bad with little hope as Reid and Company made horrible top picks and it would catch up with them. Add in such great signings such as Jason "Tackle is fishing gear" Babin and NA, Dream Team, etc and we have the mess we have now.

Andy you are not solely responsible for this debacle but a significant contributor so please TAKE responsibility and leave.

Like all of the previous commenters, I am deeply dissatisfied with the current state of affairs by the team we love. I am sure, like me, those that wrote those comments, and those that are reading mine, were, at the time of the Nnamdi signing, and the DRC trade, etc., were very excited. Unfortunately, those decisions have hamstrung this franchise. I also believe that Andy Reid is psychologically worn down (I mean how many of you could function with the stress he has, working at all hours, in the short time he has, since burying his son?). He's the best long-term coach this football team has ever had, and we'll regret it when he's gone. I believe he should have taken a leave of absence after Garrett died - maybe take the season off. If he had, I think this team may have suffered, but when he came back next year, he would have been refreshed and he would have been leading this team, like he has in most years.

Please be Asomugha and bench Coleman and Allen.

Get Marsh, Sims, and Anderson out there just to send a message if nothing more. Those 3 players who have been starters all year absolutely SUCK!

Does anyone have confidence in this team if Howie is still the GM after this season is completed ?

Great defenses ALWAYS have DBs that can tackle. Just look at what the Eagles had when they had a respectable defense under JJ. Sheldon Brown wasnt the best cover DB but he was good enough and he could certainly lay the wood. Never forget him laying out Reggie Bush in Plyoff game against Saints. Bush was punking on the field. Obv, Dawkins and the little guys like Hanson were pretty sure tacklers. Now, they got prima-donnas like Nnamdi and DRC. It would be one think if they could lock guys down but WRs are running free all over the field. The Safteys are just terrible, total backup material. Still cant believe we passed on Earl Thomas for Graham. Will never understand that. I could list all the idiotic moves from the recent Reid era but we all know them. WE fans have been screaming run the ball more!! Maybe things would be different with Vick, had they simply chosesn to utilize McCoy and Brown more earlly in the season. Win close games, control the clock, and limit Vicks drop backs and mistakes due to him touching the ball less. Have him the throw occasional deep ball which he does well, more designed scrambles and but pound the rock with screen plays. U gotta get rid of Reid,MM and their moronic "philosophies". U gotta play to ur teams strengths, not what u want to do

The Eagles will get the BEST coach available on the market during the offseason. That coach will be Andy Reid!!!!!! Yes folks, the stache will be back next year. Say bye bye to most of the coaching staff and about 60% of the current roster. Old JL will not allow his ego or his wallet to go through a rebuilding period. Bring Andy back, new coaching staff, clean up the roster and you are guaranteed at least 7 wins next year. Besides, who better to work with Foles? Gruden? Ha Joke!

Mornhinweg. Next to be thrown under the bus. Reid will stop at nothing to retain his dignity by doing everything he can to retain a job he no longer deserves.

Hope the owner waits and fires both Andy and Howie and makes a clean break with all ties to this era. A new philosophy of football is needed here; and it would be a good thing if it includes the running game and a stout defense. The fans would love that! The fans would also love to see Mr. Lurie with Ron Jaworski sitting next to him on New Year's Day at a press conference announcing the hiring of Jaws as VP of Football Operations. He can wear his recently vacated by Mike Vick #7 jersey signifying both a change for the future but a link to the heritage and past of the organization. HIREJAWSFIRST is a facebook page where you can show your support for a Jaws-lead re-building of the organization. Stop by and give it a "like" if you agree. Thanks!

When people do not do their job they are released-
    Let's Fire:
    (1) Andy Reid- since 2004 when the Eagles lost the Super Bowl Andy
Reid has put the Eagles in a losing slump
    (2) Morningweg- Marty must be Andy's twin-he thinks the same as Andy
    (3) Nnamdi--Does not do his job covering
    (4) Bell-poor in protecting the Quarterback
    (5) B. April-some of the worst coverages on kickoffs
    (6) M. Vick-his skills peaked a few years ago-now he is a very bad
    Quarterback
    2013 NFL Draft

    (1) a Veteran team coach who blieves in --in your face football &
    hard hitting
    (2) a veteran quarterback such as Alex Smith to lead this Eagles team
    (3) a experienced special teams coach who isn't afraid t take chances

    In the 2013 NFL Draft
    (1) a cornerback to replace Nnamdi
    (2) a safety that mimicks the talent of our Brian Dawkins

Eagles Defense will greatly be made stronger by newly hired Tommy
Brasher. Brasher & Jim Johnson believed in having bigger boys on
defense who could hit hard & muscle their way into sacking the
quarterback thus taking pressure off of the Eagles cornerbacks
when the front defense put pressure on the other teams quarterback

This overhaul is very much needed so that Eagle football players
star caring about winning football games.

After all isn't that what they are getting paid millions of dollars to do.

    Phila.

You all haven't been paying much attention. Nnamdie would be much better if he was manned up with the offenses best player. When you get a FA at 31 you just put him in a position he's comfortable with and work around that. We have seen him shut down the opposing team's best offensive threat in the passing game. We put him in a zone and he's expecting safety help, as you should in a zone, and it isn't there. He has to try and catch up and it's too late and he looks bad. Now we understand why no one wanted that DC job having to deal with Washburn's wide nine. Wash didn't communicate with the other position coaches nor the DC nd you see the result when coaches and players are not a cohesive unit. It's easy to blame players, but it goes deeper than that. The defense is/was in shambles so how do you expect players to excel in it?

Would you believe a TRADE. Vick to the Jets for Sanchez. To be Foles' backup, OF COURSE.

If the fans are to take this team seriously, Pee wee Roseman needs to go. Otherwise, the ownership is just laughing out loud and pointing at how dumb Eagles fans really are...

The ONE thiong I do not want from the next coach is some kind of "gimmicky" offense. Stay with the tried and true tradition. I realize that this is a passing league now, but team like Baltimore still win with a smash mouth "run first" mentality. Let;'s face it, a tough running game betas up the opposing D, tiring them out in the 2nd half. we finally have two very good backs, let's exploit our strength and find a coach with the same mentality.

you can get the best coaches but as long as Howie is GM the inept trickle down affect will hinder the team

This is were our energy should be directed these days - a serious PR campaign to get Howie fired!

re. Next to go for the Eagles.
Since this season's lost anyway, I don't give a s***, but by next season Reid, Vick, and half that team should be gone.
This should have been done last year when Reid and the Eagles needed to win their last 3 games just to get to 8-8. Reid's been here 14 years and can't draft, which is the reason why we're in the cellar. No wonder everybody around the league likes him.
