What if the Eagles traded...

POSTED: Thursday, April 9, 2009, 12:02 PM

Here's a new poll. Still trying to get people to think about the possibility of trading up in the first round, something most people seem to want no parts of.

Granted, this is a little overly simplistic. First off, nobody knows if any of those receivers are really, actually available to the Eagles. Second, it probably would take more than a first and a third for some of them -- some extra doo-dad or another would have to be thrown in. Third, trading up in the first round is really more art than science anymore, and espeically this year, so you really have to guess a little bit about what kind of value it would take to move up. (More on that in Friday's column in the paper.)

Oh, and I spelled Braylon wrong on the poll but can't figure out how to fix it. All apologies.

Anyway:

st- I think you're the one smoking crack. Boldin is TO without speed. I think he is a very good receiver, but he is much better with Larry Fitzgerald on the other side of him and an accurate Kurt Warner throwing the ball. Crabtree is more like TO; big, physical and FAST. OT, TE and RB can be had in the rest of the draft. Just because these guys are picked early doesn't mean they are going to be good (see Winston Justice, LJ Smith, Tony Hunt, etc.). Crabtree is a good bet; physical tools AND cosistent production.

To give up any of the 1st round picks, the return would have to be coupled with no more than a 4th, and that would be for Boldin.

You should add Jason Peters to this poll because it's more like that the Eagles trade one of their 1st round picks in a deal for Peters than any of these other options. No way I would give up a 1st round pick in a deal for Johnson or Edwards either.

I like where they are at. they can get a legit running back and an offensive tackle. two areas needed more than a wide receiver.

The only player I would trade up for is Crabtree. Otherwise, I would rather use the picks on a running back and a OT.

    I can't believe even 5% voted for C. Johnson, I was hoping for 0.0

I hate when people say that chad is not worth a trade because he had a bad year last year. Is there anyone that can prove to me that fitzpatrick is a pro bowl QB. Same scenario with Randy Moss, he was no where productive in Oakland because he had no quarterback. First year with the patriots he set records. Positive if Chad Johnson comes to Philly, both he and McNabb make the superbowl as well as pro bowl.
