The Vikings have put out the word:

They need you!

Well, maybe not you, but they need warm bodies to fill the Metrodome. The team has announced that it has 20,000 tickets available for Sunday afternoon's playoff game against the Eagles. That's right -- 20,000.

“We appreciate our loyal fans and want to ensure they understand tickets are still available at all price levels for this game,” said Vikings Vice President of Sales and Marketing/Chief Marketing Officer Steve LaCroix. “We’re encouraging fans to experience the atmosphere of the team’s first home playoff game since 2000 and give the Vikings the continued home field advantage we enjoyed throughout the regular season.”

They say prices range from $30 to $160, and that more information is at ticketmaster.com.

that is pathetic. just for that, they should lose home field and the game should be moved to Philly where there are real football fans.

People are STRUGGLING right now, Ryan. Good for you that you can always buy football tickets, no questions asked, just because you're a "real football fan," but plenty of people have never attended and will never attend a game because they can't afford it.

the league/networks should eat 'em and distribute to under privileged children. They won't of course. Looking forward to Sunday's anticpated tv coverage with lots of close ups of players helmets as game resumes all around them.

Ryan: You are a moron. There is little to do in MN this time of year. Affordability not drunken Eagle fans determin ticket sales.

Nothing to do in MN in January? Come on...there's plenty to do. Ice skating, Ice fishing, Ice sculpting, Ice whatever. I'm sure they will sell out by Sunday. And I'm sure they aren't going to give away tickets to under-priveleged kids. I know times are tough, but I think there are 20k people in the MN area who can pony up $30-$160...they'll just have to skip one night out at the bar or something.

you people really believe the problem is that people can't afford to pony up $30 for a ticket to the game? this problem doesn't happen in Philly, one of the most economically depressed cities in the nation, then it shouldn't happen in Minneapolis should it? gimme a break. get of your high horses.

I agree with Ryan. You people really need to get off your high horses, the whole country is economically depressed not just in Minnesota. It just shows how much the Eagles matter to this city and why we are more deserving than any other city right now of a Super Bowl run.

Do they still do local tv blackouts when a game is sold out? What a shame that would be.

I mean not sold out. Years ago gamers weren't televised in the home market if so many seats weren't sold. I recall the Eagles having that problem in the 70s/80s from time to time. The local network affiliate would buy out the last few just to televise the game. Yes, even in the football town of Philly!

You people are morons. Why do we have to make everything an economics/political issue. this is the SPORTS page. You should come here to get away from that stuff. He was merely implying we are better sports fans. Get over it. keep the polictical commentary where it belongs.

It was supposed to be six weeks and out, but he never left. It is only one of the reasons why so many people have concerns about him as a potential house guest.
