Who will be next?

Vick...Favre...

POSTED: Tuesday, August 18, 2009, 12:04 PM

Because prodigal football celebrities, like plane crashes and movie-actor deaths, come in threes, and seeing as how Brett Favre -- according to an ESPN report, and pending a physical -- has now joined Michael Vick among the NFL's newly employed, there is only one possible third candidate: John Madden.

I mean, we all know he only retired in the first place because he really believed Favre was done this time. Silly John.

Farve signed again & again & again. I'm sick of him. He should stop this. Maybe if he gets hurt, he'll really retire. If I were a lineman, i would be trying to take him out forever. The Farve circus continues.

jack russell ... Like most fanatics, you're blinded by your zealotry. Favre is 40 years old and coming off a season in which he threw as many INTs (22) as touchdowns. That's why he's getting negative media. That's got doodley squat to do with Michael Vick, who, by the way, probably will leave this earth having done vastly more to improve the lot of pit bulls than you and your caterwauling, sign-waving, hate-posting sistren.

I had a lot of respect for Farve, but he has lost all of my respect. I don't even care if he wins the Super Bowl. I feel bad for Rosenhal and Jackson. I'm so sick of his retirement claims....

gogo-yes michael vick gacy has already done a lot to dogs,a 40 year old brett favre is still better then the 29 year old felon,it's apologist for criminals like you that give the town a bad name.

So Brett Favre has signed. As they say in the theater,"Break a leg." No, really, break a leg.

@GoPhilsGo - please change your name, you are a disgrace to Phillies fans everywhere. And no matter what Vick does from now until he dies, he will never make up for what he has already done, so even if I do nothing for the rest of my life, I will still have done more for the good of dogs/animals than him. I'm willing to bet Vick at some point in the future ends up back in jail for something, anything. because he is not a good person.

Phila Daily News: "A 2008 investigative report by the Inspector General of the Agriculture Department said that a confidential informant reported that Vick twice threw family pets into the ring with his trained fighters because he and two co-defendants "thought it was funny to watch the pit bulls belonging to [his kennel] injure or kill the other dogs."

About this blog
Rich Hofmann arrived at the Daily News in 1980 for a job whose status was officially designated as "full-time, temporary." A senior at Penn at the time, he was hired to fill in on the copy desk during a staff illness. The notion of him covering the Eagles or being a columnist did not exist in anyone's imagination. It was supposed to be six weeks and out, but he never left. It is only one of the reasons why so many people have concerns about him as a potential house guest.
