It remains open season on Donovan McNabb, who didn't know last week than an NFL game could end in a tie. The latest comments come from Warren Sapp, speaking on Showtime's "Inside the NFL" along with Phil Simms. The show airs Wednesday night at 9 pm. The transcript was provided by Showtime.

WARREN SAPP: "…when I heard him say it I almost passed out. I thought, 'This will follow you for the rest of your career.' Your legacy in the league, Donovan, will be throwing up in the Super Bowl, Rush Limbaugh and now 'I didn’t know they were ties in the NFL.'"

PHIL SIMMS: "It makes me sad; I can’t even laugh about it because he is a tough player, a good player. I believe, and a lot of people get mad when I say this, I think he is going to go to the Hall of Fame one day. He is probably going to throw for over 40,000 yards…. But you are right, you know how we are in life now and with TV, it’s perception. And these perceptions that have been put out there are going to stay with him until he wins a Super Bowl."

Then the topic turned to whether or not this would be McNabb’s last year in Philadelphia.

SAPP: "It’s going to be tough. It’s going to be tough, unless he gets them into a playoff run."

SIMMS: "Unless he turns it around and they have really good success in the playoffs, for once I actually believe this could be the end."

And so it goes. Maybe it will stop by Sunday, after the pre-game shows have finished chewing on it. Maybe.

Warren Sapp, love him or hate him, is going to the HOF. I Wonder if the attitude toward him would be different if the Eagles had drafted him like they should have, instead of Mike Mamula. Remember that, Eagles fans?

Reid's got to go. He's got no solid running game, no big time wide receivers, he can't call a decent two minute drill. Come on, what is Jeff Lurie waiting for? Get Reid gone already, and McNabb next.

Eagles "fans" need to realize what they have at the QB position. I challenge anyone to name 5 other starting QB's better than McNabb and put the talent that he has available around him with those other QB's and see just how many of them can do any better. We've seen what he's capable of when he has a great receiver with him. Why not try to duplicate that formula before McNabb and Westbrook are in wheelchairs?

Yo Mon. Donovan is .500 since the Superbowl. You can have Jerry Rice, but unles you have Montana throwing to him he might as well be Jerry Jones. Andy stinks, but how is he responsible for Donovan's stupidity and inaccuracy. Donovan is a multi-millionaire quarterback. Andy is suppossed to spoon feed him rules. Sapp's a fool, but not for his comments...unfortunately his comments are way too accurate.

Jack V, ARE YOU YELLING? Calm down Dogg! First of all, are you telling me you never vomited? At the most inopportune time? Never? Of course not. You never played sports! You make it sound as if the Eagles BECAUSE he vomited! Or like, "How could he do such a thing! Vomit in the middle of the game!?!" (in a British, uppity tone). And Jack, very few games are meaningless (or "MEANLESS" as you say). Hey Mon! I agree with you about Fat Sapp. Sapp has the perfect name SAPP! Just looking at him makes me sick. Uggghhhhhh!!!!!

scrooge1... to your repeated post the answer is NO.... Andy Reid can not run or pass... stop protecting this guy who simply is an average quarterback.... he needs to make it happen and take responsibility when it doesn't

Not knowing that there is only one overtime is a disgrace for a starting NFL quarterback that is a star... More importantly though is the 3 interceptions and fumble which cost them the game... clearly McNabbs skills are dulling and he really never was a quatreback who relied on his understanding of the system and defense... so i conclude that he is not as good as they build him up to be

Actually it's just sad to watch. Remember that "Window of oppertunity" that was being thrown around after the 2nd NFC conference game loss? It's just closed and we don't like it, that's all. The question is, will Jeff Laurie recognize it and move forward or not? Personally when it's more exciting watch bowling on ESPN than scream at the TV, but you still watch it anyway you know what it's like to be a fan instead of a front-runner. We need a new Coaching staff, and a new GM. Donovan can leave and it won't cost us any cap space after this year. There are plenty of assistant GM's out there who can get this thing straight w/2 first round picks and the guys we have now. Maybe Laurie can call Parcells for some advice on a new coach (it still amazes what he did in Dallas and Miami) instead of Al Davis. LOL. I don't know, but right now Sunday sucks, and I just want to watch football again without having to appologize to my kids for screaming at the TV.

I think this is getting out of control. I'm no McNabb fan, but his not knowing the game would end in a tie is not the reason they couldn't beat Cincinnati. There was a vice-presidential candidate who didn't know there were 3 countries in North America, that Africa is not a country. That was far more serious than McNabb ignorance of tied games. For the Eagles to be considered a serious contender, Reed has to go...and that's not going to happen as long as he continues to stock the team with lower quality, less expensive players. Lurie wants to turn a profit and the hell with a Super Bowl as far as he is concerned. I refuse to buy game tickets anymore. Forget all the talk fans and take some action.

Hall of fame? No! Tough player? Yes! Role model for your kids? Most definitely. Bright QB? Not a chance! A smart QB does not go ahead and run a QB draw after a defensive player calls out "QB draw." It is time for DM and Reid to ride off into the sunset together.

Donovan didn't know the rules of overtime. Does anybody really care about that? I am more perturbed that he threw 3...count 'em THREE pics and one fumble and looked like he was dressed in a London Fog outfit rather that an Eagles uniform. No rhythm, no confidence, no leadership!!!!!! End of story!!!! end of era:-(

McNabb was a great player.....but he has not crossed the threshold to be hall of fame. I don't think it's entirely his fault because Reid never put top guys around him. Sadly...this era is over....they need to rebuild....and you can't do that with McNabb at his age. I'll miss him. The real question is who do we want running the rebuilding? Reid?

Everybody's gotta' stop thinking there will ever come a time under Andy Reid that McNabb won't be the QB. Most media and fans thought that last year was going to be his last because they drafted Kevin Kolb. Now that #5 is struggling again everybody is back on that bandwagon. STOP IT! When has Andy Reid EVER given even slightest indication that he might pull him? It's never happened and it never will. For better or for worse, they will be the QB/coach combo as long as Reid keeps his job and #5's still under contract. And for those people waiting and wishing for Kevin Kolb, you'd better watch what you wish for. #5 is only 31 years old. There are a lot of QB's who have had career resurgences in their mid-30's (Kerry Collins, anyone? there are plenty of others). #5's struggling now, but the light is going to go back on, and we should all hope he's not in Chicago or Minnesota (a la Randall) when it does.

DEFENSE OF MCNABB/REID.......Hey everyone, the Eagles put up 37 points against Dallas and lost....put up 31 against the Giants and lost....led Washington 14-0 and lost.....put up 20 against the Bears without Westbrook and lost. Exactly what did McNabb and Reid and the offense have to do with any of those losses. It's time to put the blame where it belongs - ON THE DEFENSE. Dawkins is showing his age, the linebackers are young and making major mistakes, Samuel won't tackle anybody, Shephard has checked out. This offense has played well enough (see above) to have this team at 7-2-1...get off their backs!!!!!

I'm angry, as all Eagles fans should be, that McNabb isn't getting benched for this game at Baltimore. Yeah, the season is over as far as we fans are concerned, but the team's perspective should be that there is still a chance. With that said, Kolb should be the starter on Sunday. The mission is to make it to the Super Bowl and win it. That is certainly not going to happen with McNabb, but nobody really knows what would happen if Kolb was given a chance. Hopefully, Reid - who should be fired at the end of the season - will at least bench McNabb on Sunday if nothing is getting done in the first half.

Why does anyone give a sh*t what Warren Sapp has to say? Of course he is going to slam McNabb, he has been resorting to Reality television and crappy commercials for god's sake!!!!!! What a great thing for McNabb to say to have this has been cheap shot to open his big fat mouth again?! Meanwhile, you get stand up rookies like Matt Ryan and champions like Brett Favre defending him as well as Colin Cowherd who found that almost 50% of the league had no clue about it either way. Warren Sapp. "Boo, F**K YOU?"

Honestly, I've enjoyed Donovan's tenure in Philly. But Hall of Fame? No, no way. A good quarterback, exciting at times, but not great. As for Sapp--never liked the guy. Overhyped, all about Warren, good but overrated. More headaches than he's worth. Don't really need to hear from him at this point. I mean, Warren Sapp? Who cares?

I might point you to 1 QB who went to 4 superbowls and lost who is in hall of fame.. Jim Kelly.. but Mcnabb is no Kelly was more consistent and more accurate than mcnabb and had a running game to support him. Marino never won a superbowl.. but is in the hall.. Tho i must say im tired of watching a 8 million dollar man who is so inaccurate it makes me sick... people dont have hands on their feet to catch footballs last i checked.. i mean if mcnabb is throwing to mini me it could work.. ...

I CAN'T BELIEVE PHIL SIMMS WOULD EVEN MENTION THE HALL OF FAME AND DONAVAN MCNABB IN THE SAME SENTENCE. MCNABB HAD FIVE GOOD YEARS IN THE LEAGUE, WENT TO FOUR CONFRENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES AND WON ONE. UNLESS YOU GET RECOGNITION FOR VOMITING IN THE SUPER BOWL INSTEAD OF PLAYING, NO MENTION OF HOF SHOULD PASS ANYONES LIPS.

Phil: Hopefully passing yards aren't the only criteria to judge Hall of Fame candidates. Yes 40,000 yards on 40,000 attempts. Anyone with basic football savy knows that Mcnabb's dink and dunk passing yards in the West Coast style offence are actually rushing yards, therefore bogus. If he gets in it will be as Rush Limbaugh predicted.

Simple: It's the way the FO put this squad together, and the way Andy set up the coaching staff. Just think if McNabb was a Colt, or a Cowboy, or a Packer, in other words on a team that had receivers and running backs of NFL caliber. By the way Reid, you spent all that money on that midget Asanti Samuels. He may play the corner well, but I get tired of him faking tackles on the bigger running backs. Teams know he is a punk when it comes to tackling, and they shove it his way with the big backs. Another dumb Andy move.

just looking at Sapps idiotic face makes me want to puke. He's like a child that needs attention.Mcnabb should have said i'm used to winning most of the games i play in,and not playing for ties.oh well Mcnabb will go win a super bowl, like Elway late in his career, with another team that has a running game and a reciever who isn't a smurf or as frail as my grandmom and we'll be stuck with Andy's playcalling, drafts and free agents going 7 and 9 every year.THIS IS THE NFC EAST ANDY!!

WHY WOULD ANY ONE THINK OF DONAVAN MCNABB AS A HALL OF FAME CANIDATE? HE HAD FOUR GREAT YEARS RUNNING AND PASSING WENT TO FOUR CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES AND WON ONE. ACTUALLY VOMITED WHEN HE HAD A CHANCE TO WIN A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP INSTEAD OF PLAYING TO TRY AND WIN. TO TOP OFF A CAREER IN WHICH HE TOOK A LOT OF INJURIES AND TO HIS CREDIT WORKED HIS WAY BACK WE DISCOVER HE DOESN'T HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE ABOUT HIS CAREER'S RULES. YES, HE HAS PASSED FOR A LOT OF YARDS IN MOSTLY MEANLESS GAMES. HALL OF FAME?

The only way recieve a kick in overtime is to win the coin toss! That's what sudden death means! That aside, I don't think Donavan aquited himself very well today, I don't blame him for why our team stinks, but he is the archtype of player who's skills have diminished but he keeps toating the company line, even though the company is revving the bus and practicing the throwing moves

Question, when the coin toss is made to start the game, there are 3 options, recieve, kick, or defer. If you say kick, do you recieve the ball to start the 2nd half? Answer: No. I bet many people believed that you do if you say kick. Just wondering if everyone knows all the rules.

I find it funny that everyone else in the world know everything about the NFL, but McNabb. Before the Eagles played in the OT, how many new there were ties in the NFL? Honestly? In the sports bar I watch the Eagles games at, many people did not know there were ties in the NFL. If you went to NFL.com and looked at the standings prior to the tie, they only showed wins/losses, no ties. At least he was honest about it.

This isnt McNabb's fault we didnt win a SB. It's Reid arrogance of thinking a QB can do it all on his own. Jim Johnson's defense hasnt been the same since Spags left for the Giants. Give Reid and McNabb 1 more year maybe he can pull some desperate moves to save his job if not, fire Reid and bring Spags back to put some intensity into this team! He is a sure thing SB winning head coach!

I’m getting a little tired of the NFL Network Jami Dukes and company stating that Eagles fans are spoiled because we’ve always had a consistence QB and not to criticize McNabb for claiming he didn’t know ties existed in the NFL. We the Eagles fans have never won a Super Bowl in franchise history. Great we won some play-offs and got to the Super Bowl but just like any fan in the NFL it’s about winning at the Super Bowl. We the fans put our money where our mouth is not the NFL Network. As an Eagles fan I feel I have the right to state the obvious, its over. We the FANS buy the tickets, gear, brag on our team but no more this team is harming the city and ticket sales. I stopped watching the Eagles in week 4 this year, there so disturbingly bad. Andy and McNabb have run there course, the thing the owners need to recognize is that it’s over. The fans wont watch then maybe they’ll do something. The chatter from all fans is “enough”. Every team in our division has made intelligent changes in the last few years from Parcels left Dallas with a blueprint on how to win. Wade Phillips has been a little derelict with maintenance of the team but...........The Skins have gone from Coach Gibbs to a new head Coach nobody wanted and are improving. Then the Giants had Kurt Warner then said Eli is our man and were sticking for a few years. All were at the play-offs last year while the Eagles were home sitting on the sofa. This year there going for it again. The Giants may bring another trophy home. The Eagles wont improve by playing like it’s 1999.
