It remains open season on Donovan McNabb, who didn't know last week than an NFL game could end in a tie. The latest comments come from Warren Sapp, speaking on Showtime's "Inside the NFL" along with Phil Simms. The show airs Wednesday night at 9 pm. The transcript was provided by Showtime.

WARREN SAPP: "…when I heard him say it I almost passed out. I thought, 'This will follow you for the rest of your career.' Your legacy in the league, Donovan, will be throwing up in the Super Bowl, Rush Limbaugh and now 'I didn’t know they were ties in the NFL.'"

PHIL SIMMS: "It makes me sad; I can’t even laugh about it because he is a tough player, a good player. I believe, and a lot of people get mad when I say this, I think he is going to go to the Hall of Fame one day. He is probably going to throw for over 40,000 yards…. But you are right, you know how we are in life now and with TV, it’s perception. And these perceptions that have been put out there are going to stay with him until he wins a Super Bowl."

Then the topic turned to whether or not this would be McNabb’s last year in Philadelphia.

SAPP: "It’s going to be tough. It’s going to be tough, unless he gets them into a playoff run."

SIMMS: "Unless he turns it around and they have really good success in the playoffs, for once I actually believe this could be the end."

And so it goes. Maybe it will stop by Sunday, after the pre-game shows have finished chewing on it. Maybe.

Mcnabb is getting old and were r not getting younger,Bottom line we shouldve had a superbowl victory by now and us fans cant wait much longer. As long as Reid is calling plays we will not see one....

I'm more upset that the coach doesn't know you need a running game.

I’m getting a little tired of the NFL Network Jami Dukes and company stating that Eagles fans are spoiled because we’ve always had a consistence QB and not to criticize McNabb for claiming he didn’t know ties existed in the NFL. We the Eagles fans have never won a Super Bowl in franchise history. Great we won some play-offs and got to the Super Bowl but just like any fan in the NFL it’s about winning at the Super Bowl. We the fans put our money where our mouth is not the NFL Network. As an Eagles fan I feel I have the right to state the obvious, its over. We the FANS buy the tickets, gear, brag on our team but no more this team is harming the city and ticket sales. I stopped watching the Eagles in week 4 this year, there so disturbingly bad. Andy and McNabb have run there course, the thing the owners need to recognize is that it’s over. The fans wont watch then maybe they’ll do something. The chatter from all fans is “enough”. Every team in our division has made intelligent changes in the last few years from Parcels left Dallas with a blueprint on how to win. Wade Phillips has been a little derelict with maintenance of the team but...........The Skins have gone from Coach Gibbs to a new head Coach nobody wanted and are improving. Then the Giants had Kurt Warner then said Eli is our man and were sticking for a few years. All were at the play-offs last year while the Eagles were home sitting on the sofa. This year there going for it again. The Giants may bring another trophy home. The Eagles wont improve by playing like it’s 1999.

This isnt McNabb's fault we didnt win a SB. It's Reid arrogance of thinking a QB can do it all on his own. Jim Johnson's defense hasnt been the same since Spags left for the Giants. Give Reid and McNabb 1 more year maybe he can pull some desperate moves to save his job if not, fire Reid and bring Spags back to put some intensity into this team! He is a sure thing SB winning head coach!

I'm no McNabb fan, but a winner don't need to know about stinking Tie Rulings.

I find it funny that everyone else in the world know everything about the NFL, but McNabb. Before the Eagles played in the OT, how many new there were ties in the NFL? Honestly? In the sports bar I watch the Eagles games at, many people did not know there were ties in the NFL. If you went to NFL.com and looked at the standings prior to the tie, they only showed wins/losses, no ties. At least he was honest about it.

Question, when the coin toss is made to start the game, there are 3 options, recieve, kick, or defer. If you say kick, do you recieve the ball to start the 2nd half? Answer: No. I bet many people believed that you do if you say kick. Just wondering if everyone knows all the rules.

The only way recieve a kick in overtime is to win the coin toss! That's what sudden death means! That aside, I don't think Donavan aquited himself very well today, I don't blame him for why our team stinks, but he is the archtype of player who's skills have diminished but he keeps toating the company line, even though the company is revving the bus and practicing the throwing moves

WHY WOULD ANY ONE THINK OF DONAVAN MCNABB AS A HALL OF FAME CANIDATE? HE HAD FOUR GREAT YEARS RUNNING AND PASSING WENT TO FOUR CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES AND WON ONE. ACTUALLY VOMITED WHEN HE HAD A CHANCE TO WIN A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP INSTEAD OF PLAYING TO TRY AND WIN. TO TOP OFF A CAREER IN WHICH HE TOOK A LOT OF INJURIES AND TO HIS CREDIT WORKED HIS WAY BACK WE DISCOVER HE DOESN'T HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE ABOUT HIS CAREER'S RULES. YES, HE HAS PASSED FOR A LOT OF YARDS IN MOSTLY MEANLESS GAMES. HALL OF FAME?

just looking at Sapps idiotic face makes me want to puke. He's like a child that needs attention.Mcnabb should have said i'm used to winning most of the games i play in,and not playing for ties.oh well Mcnabb will go win a super bowl, like Elway late in his career, with another team that has a running game and a reciever who isn't a smurf or as frail as my grandmom and we'll be stuck with Andy's playcalling, drafts and free agents going 7 and 9 every year.THIS IS THE NFC EAST ANDY!!

Rich Hofmann arrived at the Daily News in 1980 for a job whose status was officially designated as "full-time, temporary." A senior at Penn at the time, he was hired to fill in on the copy desk during a staff illness. The notion of him covering the Eagles or being a columnist did not exist in anyone's imagination. It was supposed to be six weeks and out, but he never left. It is only one of the reasons why so many people have concerns about him as a potential house guest. Rich has blogged the postseasons of the Flyers and Eagles.
