It doesn't usually take much to get this week started, this Eagles-Cowboys week. Thankfully, Adam "Pacman" Jones, a newcomer to the festivities, has gotten into the spirit.

The Dallas Morning News, on its website, asked Jones -- a defensive back -- about the trio of 100-yard receivers the Eagles unfurled in their opening-game demolition of the St. Louis Rams.

And, well, quoth the Pacman: "They played the Rams, dude."

The fact that we are all kind of thinking the same thing does not matter. And just because it might be true does not mean that Jones is allowed to say it. Truth is not a defense during Eagles-Cowboys week. Does he not realize that into which he has just stepped?

Welcome, Pacman.

When the Birds "Make it rain" on Monday night, they will not be showering strippers with thousands of dollars while shooting up strip clubs like Pacman is used to, they will be beating that chump along with Roy "Horse Collar" Williams up and down that dump of a stadium. GO BIRDS!!!!!

Maybe if he focused that energy on not making pass interference penalty's and hanging out with murderer's he would be considered more than an average cornerback with good return skills. But it's easier to be typical I guess...

Something so insightful coming from a guy who uses a nickname a 10 year-old would come up with. Yeah, he's all grown up now that he's been out of the league for a year. Some thing never change, neither has he.

He's right. They played the Rams. Pacman jones has more cajones than the entire Eagles team. Eagles don't scare anyone. Dallas' elite secondary and proliferous offense will stomp them.

An elite secondary, since when? Roy Williams is one of the biggest liabilities at safey in the league. I think the Eagles are the one with the elite secondary pal. Talk to me when the Cowboys win their 1st playoff game of the decade.

Pacman only has more cajones because he's been in prison more times than all the players in Eagles history combined. Nice smack talk, "Battlefield Earth" Jones.

As usual Pacman underestimates the consequences of his actions. That includes his mouth.Don't look for a response from the Eagles. They'll do it on the field.

McNabb is gonna "make it rain" on Pac-Man all night long. Jones may have relive his misguided youth and pull a gun on whomever he is covering. It better been a long range rifle as the receiver will be pretty far away from Jones.

After years in prison I'd be willing to bet Pacman had his share of close up views of cajones. Morvak is right, Pacman has had more cajones than the entire Eagle team. He fits in with the 'Boys.

Cowboy fans (real & bandwagon fans) must get a tear in their eye, now that You and Tank carry the torch created by Hollywood Henderson, Leon lett, Dwayne Goodrich, Michael Irvin, Barry Switzer and Nate Newton. Vick and Rae Carruth should feel welcomed too, shortly.

cowgirl fans like ancient history. I like keeping current, just like their teams current playoff loss streak going back to 1996. Keep believing those press clippings about the best team in the NFC. Pacman is not the brightest bulb or sharpest knife, so what he thinks or expresses matters none. Talk and written words are cheap. This time the score won't be 10-6 cowgirls. But the Eagles will win again down in tejas. F-cowgirls and their fans.

Browns are almost as overhyped as the Cowgirls this year. That game was far from a clash of the titans. Pacman was not a factor. Dominating any NFL team the way the Eagles did was huge in the opener.

It will only be a matter of time before all those criminal egos clash and the wheels come off. Wade Phillips reminds me of somebodies fat Grandma who has no idea of how to relate to the athlete of today. Jones is a meddling ego-maniac who looks like he drank a big ole cup of A.I.D.S who has already made the aforementioned coach look over his shoulder and will be apt to make quick knee jerk decesions. Here's probably the best part, Dave Campo is back AND HE'S IN CHARGE OF THE SECONDARY!!!!!!!!!!! Anybody who looks at this objectively would have to honestly say that the chances of this not working are far geater then it will work.

How about a completely unbiased view? Because lord knows all the sports commentators on ESPN and SI have it in for the Birds, they always have and always will... This is anybody's game. End of story. We will find out if the Birds are overrated/underrated and same exact thing for Cowboys. If Asante Samuel can keep TO under control, if Jackson is the real deal, if our LBs can pop Romo a few times and our line can protect McNabb- well, I think we'll be just fine. It is my deep hope that next Tuesday morning, all the talking heads are saying exactly what many of us think- this year the Birds could be the real deal...

First of all it's Adam Jones. For you the media to still call him by Pacman, is unacceptable. He doesn't want to be called Pacman anymore and I think you fall into his trap by calling him that. He is a criminal, and should be behind bars. There is a man paralyzed because of his drunken behavior at a strip club in Vegas. Why are you people calling him Pacman? Are you his friend, do you know him? NO, and I don't want to know him. He will get his in the end, they always do. He's Adam Jones, at best, and he's lucky he's even a free man, don't give him what he wants.

Actually, Jones was right. I hope Donovan and the rest the team remember that they played the Rams, too and that they're going to have to be that much more precise and make that much more effort and be that much quicker against the 'Boys. The knock on the Birds' receivers is they can't get any separation and give up after the first five steps. We're going to need more than that to beat them.

If he had better safeties backing him up, I may have understood his big mouth, but given this is the weakest link on the team, he has just demonstrated why everyone thinks he is so stupid. He returned a few punts before his 'rain' of terror started, and now he has just put his team mates in an awkward position to cover his back everytime McNabb steps back to throw. Also puts the other corner, who isn't that great in a single cover situation. Thanks Pacman. You just made everyone in your own backfield more nervous.

Wow, you eagles fans cracks me up, but it’s all good. Pacman was telling the truth because comparing Cowboys and Rams are like comparing a Cadillac to a Kia. I watched the Eagles game and came to the conclusion that either the Rams forgot they had a football game to play on Sunday or they’re just that sorry. McNabb is an okay quarterback but his history shows he’s “injury prone” and it’s too earlier in the season to be talking about McNabb for MVP. Also as a Cowboy fan I’ll also admit that it’s too early to be talking about the Cowboys Super Bowl appearance when we hadn’t win a playoff game in the last few years. But I believe this Cowboys team will win a playoff game this year if not more. McNabb is going to be in for a rude awakening next Monday Night in “Big D” because he hadn’t faced a defensive front like ours, and Terrence Newman back at practice, so it doesn’t like good for the Birds, I’m sorry. I think Philly’s best player Brian Westbrook”, he’s the one the cowboys has to watch. We’re not worried about your wide receiver group because they were playing against an awful Rams secondary and if you remember this year draft the Cowboys passed up on D.Jackson. We took Flex Jones, Jenkins, and ACC leading rusher Choice. Oh, Baskett will not be catching an 80 yards TD on Dallas; our secondary is probably best in the league. Baskett TD against the Rams will probably be his only one this year. We're stacked! We have a good quarterback, 3 good running backs, a good wide receiver with the #2 and those off the bench that can contribute, and we also have the best TE in the league. Jason Witten had 93 yards on Sunday. Oh and to the poster who called Texas Stadium a dump… yeah it’s a dump that why we’re putting the finishes touches on the $1 billion plus stadium in Arlington, Texas…they putting in the seats this month. I’ll have some tissue for you eagles fan this time next week after reality has set in that the Eagles are pretenders.

reply: alwaysphil1... you said " Also puts the other corner, who isn't that great in a single cover situation." Are you on drugs "alwaysphill", Ken Hamlin, Terrence Newman, and Roy Williams all made the pro bowl. Anthony Henry just barely missed it. Then to make matters worst for you "Dum Birds", Dallas picked up a great Corner in the first round in Mike Jenkins and our little gamble with PacMan Jones paid off. Just let Philip Wade know if you all need to borrow a someone from our secondardy on Monday just in case you all should suffer an injury in your secondary. Man, McNabb isn't going to have to time to throw a pass because you all are going to have; Demarcus Ware, Greg Ellis, Tank Johnson, Jay Ratliff, Demarcus Spear, Canty, ohhhh and forgot Anthony Spence will be back from his injury, he's practicing this week. Give it up Philly fans you all are tossed!

In fact that is the Cowgurls weakest link (besides your QB). Eagle's secondary is FAR better...and your running game? So the Eagles only played the Rams. Who did the cowgirls play again? The Browns. Like they are any better , they gave that game to the cowgirls. Pac man might get a train pulled on him by the Eagles just to remind him of his prison days. Pacman is on the perfect team . The cowgirls attract all the whiners and jailbirds.

Gee, I'd expect a homicidal felon named "Pac Man" to have more poise.

It'll be fun watching this woman beating piece of trash getting beat by a rookie named Desean Jackson. Make it rain baby, make it rain!

He's right. The Rams are terrible. HOWEVA, that isn't our fault. We did what a good team is supposed to do to a weak team - hammer the hell out of them. I don't think our receivers became that good in the off-season. I do believe that they improved a great deal but come on. The rams' secondary was horrific. This will be a good test. I think Ms Pacman still needs to work the rust off his game so I expect one of our receivers to give him the full package this Monday. Don't know which one but someone will.

One more "police matter" and this bum is out of the league for good. See how much his guaranteed contract pays him then. Jones represents everything that is bad about the NFL.

Desean Jackson played against a secondary that my 9 year old son could had a 100 yards reciever. I think Braylon Edwards is much more dangerous then Desean Jackson and we totally shut him down. If a Rookie lead your team in recieving then you all got some problems because Newman and Henry is going to shut him down. Pacman isn't our starting corner he only started because Newman was nursing a groin injury from preseason. Also do you all have televison up there because what's all this talk about Adam Jones being in prison, Adam has never been in prison he was only suspended because he was involved in too many running with the law and he wasn't arrested on all his running in. He just hung around the wrong crowd and if anyone knows that should be your coach Andy Reed with his trouble kids. The only pass interference call against Adam Jones was just that one in the end zone and yes Adam knew he was beat on that play that's why he tripped Edwards up. You "Birds" need to be worrying about stopping Demarcus Ware, Greg Ellis, Anthony Spencer, Demarcus Spears and Tank Johnson. Speaking of Rookies you all going to have your hands full with Flex Jones and Choice after Barber has beat you up. I know this is a Philly board and a little trash talk is good for the game and I'll admit if the Cowboys lose on Monday I'll be the first to comeback here and say "good game Birds" and give you all some props, but as for now the "Cowboys or CowGirls" whatever you wanna call us is the team to beat.

I find it really amusing where was all this talk last year from you philly fans when your team was barely getting by, now all of the sudden after one game against one of the worst teams in the NFL the eagles are world beaters....LMAO

I think it's even funnier that we haven't heard from all you degenerate Cowboy's fans in the past 10 or so years, but once you think you have a shot at a playoff WIN you start roaming opposing teams websites looking to post jibberish. Get a life.

Must be raining Kool-Aid in Philly this week...the Rams were 3-13 last year.....the Browns 10-6...now, you tell me which looks like the tougher opponent. Cowboys put up nearly 500 yards of offense, and that's with sitting on the ball at the end of the game. Bottom line, you better hope the Eagles can bring pressure on T Romo or it doesn't matter how good your secondary is. Dallas wins this one 34-17.
About Rich Hofmann
Rich Hofmann arrived at the Daily News in 1980 for a job whose status was officially designated as "full-time, temporary." A senior at Penn at the time, he was hired to fill in on the copy desk during a staff illness. The notion of him covering the Eagles or being a columnist did not exist in anyone's imagination. It was supposed to be six weeks and out, but he never left. It is only one of the reasons why so many people have concerns about him as a potential house guest. Rich has blogged the postseasons of the Flyers and Eagles.
