McNabb throws no bombshells

POSTED: Thursday, November 11, 2010, 11:49 AM

No shock: Donovan McNabb threw no bombshells at his weekly press availability Thursday morning. His benching at the end of the Redskins’ game against Detroit continues to dominate the questioning, but McNabb is supplying no gasoline for the fire. Surprise.

“I like to handle my business behind closed doors,” he said, adding that he has never agreed with people who deal with their grievances through the media. He said, “I think that’s not truly professional.”

What McNabb said was that he has spoken with the Shanahans -- coach Mike and offensive coordinator Kyle. He said they have talked about trying to play more to McNabb’s strengths, but that he has received no assurances that, given a similar circumstance, he won’t be pulled again.

Still, McNabb said, “We’ve put it out on the table and we’re moving on,” and he insisted that he relationship with the Redskins’ organization has not been fundamentally altered by the incident.

Then, somebody asked McNabb if he has talked to Eagles coach Andy Reid -- which really isn’t very realistic at this point in the season -- or if Reid offered any advice about how to handle the benching.

McNabb said, laughing, “I haven’t talked to Andy. I wouldn’t really know what to say to him because I got benched with Andy, too. But the whole thing about it is, we talk about different things but we haven’t talked about this situation and nor do I want to rehash it. Like I’ve said, I think it’s important that we move on from it. We put everything out on the table, we’ve talked, and now it’s time for us to forward.”

Look for a lot more in Friday’s Daily News.

I don't blame McNabb in this one bit, but clearly the handling business behind closed doors like a professional is a knock on the Shanahans. Deservedly so in this case.

McNabb is a class act. I enjoyed each one of the 216 TDs he threw as an Eagle, and each of the 83 wins he led the Birds to. Best of luck to him (except when he plays the Eagles.)

Well I think you need to buy a clue teebone. He's the starting QB of the team we are playing this week, and that alone warrants plenty of discussion about him. Furthermore, he was the best QB in Eagles history and played here for quite a few years. I for one, am still interested in hearing about the man. I'm not alone in that either.

Forgetting egos, what's so salient about benching a QB. In baseball pitchers get taken out if they're tired or ineffective. Hockey continual line changes. Basketball substitutions. Donovan and the rest of the elite qb's should not be immune to benching if ineffective.

Yeah teebone40, you're a moron. If you really ever cared about the Eagles when McNabb was leading them or the Sixers when Iverson was then you most likely are interested in knowing what they're up to.

Wolf 4 must be the same guy named Lonewolf. What's your obsession with wolves anyway? Are you Zack Galafanakis? Do you run in a one man wolf pack? Anyway, calling McNabb the most overrated QB in the NFL is about as uneducated a comment as anyone could make. Maybe you should stick to wandering around in desolate places- like a wolf, instead of throwing out negative comments. And what are we "BOOKING"? Are we on Hawaii Five-0?
