And a week later, that Idle Rich is still idle. I think he's stuck on who to attack that won't be in town when he does it. Let's see: the US soccer team will be here and he's already ripped them, so they're out. Any local team right now is also out, but Pedro Martinez will be in the minors, and away from here, so that's a possibility. Oh wait, Tony Romo has dumped Jessica Simpson! There you go, your odds on favorite! No need to pay the finders fee, Mr. Hoffman, I do it for the love of the job.
Hey Rich don't you have a negative McNabb story to write? Then a positive? Then a negative one? Another negative one? Another negative one? Then a glowing Kolb clipboard story? Kolb the star of your movie Resurrecting the Champ
What's with you Hoffman?? First, that stupid post about the US Soccer team, and now this. Get a life. Just remember - what goes around comes around. Hope to see a post about your bad fortunes someday......
Rich: 100% of the people posting here thought you went too far. Your approval rating is somewhere between GWB & the guy that got "mobbed" in Kensington. Dan Gross' readers like his stuff more than your liked this. Stick to balls, strikes, punts and free throws. Leave the entertainment to trained professionals.
KING~out
I'm with DrSportsFan. We all loved Nails as a player, and I bet we'd all be glad to see him succeed, but it's been clear for months that in his career as a businessman he's a liar and a cheat. Face it.
At some point an athlete's off-field issues overcome his on-field accomplishments. Dykstra crossed that line long ago. He's screwed over far too many people -- his customers, investors, and staff alike.
Not cool. Rich, I respect your oppinions as a journalist but this is just plain lazy. Have some respect for yourself, this is something that I expect to see on some two-bit blog written by some hack. No wonder the city's newspapers are in trouble. Why don't you just change your name to Perez Hilton? Get back to journalism and for the record you couldn't hold Dykstra's jock even if you tried. So get to writing and leave this stuff for your next facebook post. schmuck
Did this take even you more than a minute to set up and post from beginning to end? Wow, so let's recap; two posts ago (12 days ago) a one liner about the US soccer team with obviously no insight whatsoever (and of course, a cheap shot), the last post a few days ago with two or three paragraphs about Manny that even admitted the bulk of what you wrote was done better by another person who you linked to (at least getting out of charges perhaps of plagiarism), and then this one image post with no text whatsoever. Um, yeah, it was in the news the other day about Len filing Chapter 11, so your post adds....? Also, really, when it comes to cheap shots (and I don't even like Dykstra--heck, at least Ashburn072 gave us five movies instead of your one, plus a bonus that was a bit funny and almost insightful to his life), Jay Johnstone is right--why don't you do something like this to someone that actually lives in this area? Answer: hahahaha. What a wuss you are. Yeah, I get there's no actual journalistic insight or even just straight information in these posts. Yeah, I also get you are trying to just pile on to other attempts to make fun of people when they are down and out, AS LONG as they can't immediately find you personally. What great examples for me; I plan to save up these archives and show my class this Fall for their Theories of Persuasion class examples of being unethical when trying to persuade others. And I'll even give you a chance to come and defend yourself in my class, if you want--so that it's not like I'm doing a hit and run like so many of your articles. Just post on here and I'll send you my particulars and we'll set up a time around your busy (oh, it's hard not to laugh at this point) schedule.
Top 5 favorite movies of Dykstra: #5- "Bonfire of the Vanities", #4- "Risky Business", #3- "The Grifters", #2- "Other People's Money" and #1- "The Jerk" Honorable mention- "Car Wash"
I don't think anyone realizes this, but the Dude seems to have an honesty problem. If I'm not mistaken, good ol' Nails told Bill Conlin a few days/weeks ago that he was not having money trouble. Guess that makes him a liar doesn't it?
Probably the same bunch of idiots in here ripping Rich that were ripping Lenny in the main article. Dykstra the "Financier" has proven to be nothing but a pathological lying dirtbag. Watch the Real Sports on HBO interview, solid entertainment. He's going to be in jail before he makes another million Leroy.
Wait wait wait did I read he wants to be a Senator from Ca!?!?! Ok that makes sense bring in a guy who can't control his own spending to try to control our country's spending! makes sense yeah
wow, be proud of yourself Rich. No matter what Lenny has done off the field, he left his heart and soul on the turf of the Vet with each pitch for the game, his team, and the fans. Unlike you who probably couldn't play the game if you tried.
That's nice. Beating a man while he's down. You can mark this down. Lenny will be a millionaire again real soon. He's planning to run for the Senate from California.

About Rich Hofmann
Rich Hofmann arrived at the Daily News in 1980 for a job whose status was officially designated as "full-time, temporary." A senior at Penn at the time, he was hired to fill in on the copy desk during a staff illness. The notion of him covering the Eagles or being a columnist did not exist in anyone's imagination. It was supposed to be six weeks and out, but he never left. It is only one of the reasons why so many people have concerns about him as a potential house guest. Rich has blogged the postseasons of the Flyers and Eagles.
