The Eagles beat the Giants.

The Eagles are headed to Arizona.

The Eagles could go to the Super Bowl.

(Pause to marvel.)

Anybody who saw this coming a month ago is clairvoyant. Anybody who saw it coming 2 weeks ago is a true believer. Because nobody else did. Because this was not supposed to happen. But it is happening. The sixth seed in the NFC playoff tournament went to New York and beat the top seed, 23-11. They were not stopped by fatigue. They were not run over by the Giants' vaunted running game. Their defense was outstanding and their offense was good enough and efficient enough.

And now, on to Arizona and the NFC Championship Game against a team that the Eagles pounded on Thanksgiving night. That is when this serendipitous run began. That is when this whole, crazy, unpredictable run started. If you saw it continuing on to the Super Bowl semifinals, you have better eyes than me.

Arizona.

NFC Championship Game.

(Pause to marvel.)

Once again we get a peek at what a bonehead McNugget can be....A phone call? A phone call???? Please....that kind of childish, stupid behavior ruined a chance at a 3rd and 1 and a chance to run the clock out.....what if our D stumbled and gave up a quick TD? What if Dawkins ripped his hamstring on a play where he shouldn't have even been on the field again? Just plain stupid....aside from that they played a great game and deserved the win. Big day for the team. Congratulations!

Lonewolf, come on out! Do you recall that Eli gave us the ball on the 3 yard line with his 1st-quarter interception? Do you remember McNabb sticking the ball out as he scored a TD? Perhaps you recall that Eli missed Toomer, Steve Smith and Hixon for sure TDs as he threw wobbly passes. I hate to remind you of McNabb’s two- minute drive to end the 1st half. How about his TD to Celek? Do you realize that Coughlin wouldn't even let Eli throw for a 1st down, while Reid allowed McNabb to drop a perfect pass into Jackson to seal the deal. Personally, my favorite was Manning’s pass to Mikell. Do you still say Eli Manning's "the best QB in the NFL?" Eat your stupid words!

i always give credit where credit is due and today AR called a fairly good game. i loved the pass to jackson and the sneak by mcnabb for a TD. i have been calling for this forever and have said in the past that AR would NEVER do it again. i was wrong and the play worked. of course he should have sneaked it 3 more times after the jackson catch. but a win is a win is a win. and i am happy for all of them.

I think that was McNabb calling all his 'front runners' and saying hello! Calling Lonewolf...calling Lonewolf...the QB who has ALWAYS been one of the top QBs in the NFL is back and winning again. It's amazing that once that McNabb is finally healthy...we are back winning. Its amazing how much us Philly fans forget. We are shameful and not as 'smart' as we sometimes tout ourselves to be. It's amazing that instead of celebrating together, we bicker like real idiots

That was a hell of a game!! Knocking off the number one seed. I'm still not a fan of Andy Reid's pass-happy mentality....but in the playoffs so far he's used his head and stuck with the run even when it wasn't working so well. This means he has finally shown ability to be flexible with his play-calling as the game progresses. Meanwhile the defense played excellent and shut down the Giant's running game. Good teams win with balance and execution and THIS is the way the Philly offense should play ALL the time instead of always looking for the home run!! GO EAGLES!!!

It just goes to show how good we have it with Donovan. He wins with a corps of #2 and #3 WRS, while "top QBs" drop loads in their pants and truely "choke" in big games. A classic NFL win. Play great defense, run the ball, don't kill yourself with turnovers. The Eagles won because AR is finally using a winning formula instead of his usual pass, pass, pass. The Eagles are hot and have as good a chance as any other team right now to win it all. Why????? Because AR is finally running the ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should hear all the bellyachers in New York: The Giants lost the game, the Eagles didn't win it. I'm sorry, Gotham, the Eagles went to your house twice in the past month and beat you twice, pretty badly. Take away the last meaningless touchdown by the Giants on Dec. 7, and the Eagles outscored them 43-18. P.S.: For all those who think the Eagles are on the express to Tampa, I got eight words for you: Bucs 27 to 10, Panthers 14 to 3. One play at a time, people.

Call me clairvoyant. You can look up comments of mine during the last month. The NFL is weak and this is an Eagle team that should have been top seed but for stretches of mind-boggling coaching and poor QB play. They had to be lucky to get in, but once in, given how the D came together, they should be able to beat everyone if they don't turn it over, and the offense can put up 14-or-15 points while moving the chains.

This marks the first time in NFL history that two 9-win teams will play for the NFC title. Only one 9-win team went to the Super Bowl. The 9-7 Rams lost to the Steelers in 1979. Will the 8-8 Chargers make it to the AFC title game and Super Bowl?

I don't rank him, But, if I did rank him, I'd look at what he did with a No. 1 receiver as opposed to what he's done with poor-to-mediocre receivers. I'd look at the atrocious play calling, which allowed defenses to tee-off on him and which closed down the passing lanes. I'd look at the fact that many defensive players actually bragged about knowing what plays were coming. I'd look at the lack of a "power running game." I'd look at how many times McNabb has had to escape from oncoming defenses. And I’d look at how his surrounding cast came up small in the Superbowl. I'd look at the fact that Brady's jersey was clean, while McNabb was getting the snot knocked out of him. I'd look at the fact that Westbrook disappeared, because the offensive line played poorly. I'd look at the fact that McNabb threw 3 TDS on a broken ankle. I'd have to look at the fact that his coach called 60 passing plays while McNabb suffered from a sports hernia and was again, getting the snot knocked out of him. I'd at the fact that every time McNabb pukes, he throws a TD (but people criticize him for it). If I looked at all those things, and many more, I'd say he's top 5, minimum.

Wowser!!! A gutsy win by a team that is proving to all of us that they may have the determination and the gumption to go all the way. Wouldn't it be a shocker if the 5th time was the charm, particularly since those other Eagle teams were all favored to get to the Super Bowl and this one was on the mat at 5-5-1 seven or eight weeks ago. The Cardinals, however, cannot be taken lightly---their win at Carolina was every bit as impressive and even more surprising than the E's triumph at Giants' Stadium.

Can you explain why McNabb was a record-breaking QB with TO? 30TDs, 9 INTs! Then, can you explain why Reid never got another No. 1 to replace him. He could have had Moss (twice) and he could have had Burress when he left Pittsburgh. Why would the coach who's called more passes than ANY OTHER COACH in the history of the game, not get the best receivers available? Reid set his QB up for failure.

I'm not saying Reid did it intentionally. His arrogance made him believe his "SYSTEM" was more important than his athletes. Here's the question what QB would have thrived under Reid? As soon as Brady started getting hit, you see what happened. He and and Peyton enjoyed entire seasons without getting sacked while Donovan had teams spying him and receivers who couldn't get off the line of scrimmage.

Andy did, at best, a mediocre job this year, and that holds true even if we win the SB (which I think we will). He didn't suddenly get smarter because the Bucs choked against Oakland.

What a lot of people don't get is that the QB gets too much credit when teams and too much blame when they lose. Football is the ultimate team sport. Marino, as great a passer as he was, and he had great receivers too (the Marks Brothers), never won anything, but people dont' talk about him like he's a dog. Marino's got numbers and so does Donovan, but Donovan had great receivers only once.

Mcnabb is a HUGE reason for this win and all those other wins leading to those championship games. He is NOT perfect BUT TOP 3-4 QBs in the game and has been for 10 YEARS!!!!!! We should run YOU and all the other HATER LOSER fans in this town who don't deserve to have a QB like him on our team!!

One month ago WE all were ready to bury the Eagles. And why not? A tie to Cincy, beaten badly by Baltimore, and just plain looking out of it. We win on Thanksgiving evening and we win some more games against the Giants and the Browns. BUT we lose to the Redskins, scoring only 3 points. Put a fork in us, we're done. WRONG!! We smash the Cowboys on the final game of the season while both the Bears and the Buccaneers are losing. IMPOSSIBLE!! Now the Eagles are headed for the NFC Championship game to play those Cardinals who we defeated on Thanksgiving. WE ARE LIVING THE DREAM. Is there a chance that the Phillies and the Eagles can be World Champs in the same year. LET'S ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS!!!

I'll give McNabb a pass on the phone call. He played a good game and connected when needed. He has shown good poise these last few games, I'm impressed.

I'll leave with this comment. Reid costs the Eagles entire seasons (no kick returner, receivers, fullback, etc.) and he never felt the least bit of job insecurity, until THIS year. The fans began calling for his head. Even Spadaro and Coward Eskin started to throw him under the bus. Plus, last year, the Giants won with 8 rookies, while Reid refused to play rookies, citing that it took 3 years to learn his "incredible" system. Well, this year, he had pressure to start rookies because of the Giants. Plus, Curtis and Brown were hurt at the beginning of the season. Do you really think Reid envisioned Jackson as a starting receiver? He had just given Reggie Brown (who has been deactivated at times) a large contract. Also, Reid refused to give up the play calling, that is until after the Baltimore game. Since that time, Marty has called a more balanced offensive (except for the Washington game). We got in the playoffs under “less-than-perfect” circumstances, but we’re here, and for the first time in 10 years, Reid has begun to change. Hey, he even made a play for Randy Moss. I completely supported Reid until I could not longer justify certain things in my mind. Sometime afterward, Reid began to change and I can root for him again. I still would like to see a more diversified running attack, ala the 3-headed monster (which Reid despised), and a bonafide No.1 receiver, who can make plays in the end zone, but I recognize that change comes about slowly, over a period of time. Until such time, I’ll root for the Reid and the home team.

So, you think Trent Dilfer "WON" games for the Ravens? It was their defense. You think Eli Manning was the Superbowl MVP. Hell, he threw 2 sure interceptions on the last drive. However, both were dropped. The defense, David Tyree and Plaxico Burress won that game. Don't be clueless.

People need to relax. If you're expecting Mcnabb to have a 32 for 36 type game w/ 4 tds and 300 yds then your an idiot. (wind, 2nd road game, tough Def.) You should expect this type of game against the giants he hasn't dominated them as of late. The bottom line is they knocked the giants out and we are one game away from the Super Bowl. Great win. Time to feast on The Cardinals.

DD3185, thank you. I completely forgot about the weather conditions. BTW, that was a great call by Reid to kick-off to start the game, thereby having the wind at his back in the 4th quarter.

JFranklin, need I remind you of McNabb’s two- minute drive to end the 1st half. How about his TD to Celek and the perfect pass dropped into Jackson's hands to seal the deal. Yes, the defense played great and they are a LARGE part of the win, but I don't recall them scoring any points. McNabb, who had no time, for the 2nd game in a row, did what was needed to win this game. You revisionists are too much.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the E-A-G-L-E-S made it to the Super Bowl only to find themselves playing the Ravens again. The same team that everyone thought had put the final nail in the E-A-G-L-E-S season? #5 trys sooooooo hard to downplay his benching and that it has not motivated him (insert snyed comments here) and then would have to go 2 weeks with every reporter he encounters asking him that very question . . smiling. If . . . and this is going to be a HUGE if since the E-A-G-L-E-S do not play well in Arizona (look it up)they can get by the Cardinals then I feel they will indeed with the big game. Good Luck to this team and this wonderful journey and my wish is that those of you that actually are Bird fans can enjoy there run and look beyond those who have no life and can only find the faults in this team.

Hey Philly7- just read your posts- (great another idiot posting here along with Lone-fggt) also a Mcnabb hater- in ref to your Superbowl ring comment- Elway went to 3 superbowls in the late 80s and LOST all of them, then in the twilight of his career won 2 back to back- like Donovan he did not have great receivers during those 3 losses and in the 2 wins he had a great running game w/ Terrell Davis, in fact the 1st one they one T. Davis got the MVP- my point is if you have the intellect to follow this although Mcnabb has not made it to 3 superbowls you can argue he is pretty successful in the playoffs and he has done so with mediocre receivers and that perhaps along with our good defense and perhaps a slightly improved receiving core or a better running attack we can win a superbowl, maybe two. The point is Denver fans did not want to run Elway out of town after those superbowl losses- a few in which they got BLOWN OUT- rather management realized they needed to improve the team around him to complete that superbowl quest. And low and behold, they did. 5 NFC championship games are AWESOME!!! You do not get there without exceptional QB play. Peyton Manning (the MVP) could not beat an 8-8 San Diego charger team this year. And besides P. Manning and T. Brady who else has a better playoff record/experience than D.MCNABB??? If they don't pull it off this year YOU surround this guy with better talent, YOU EMBRACE HIM, and the Eagles can be superbowl champs with an aging D. Mcnabb just like Elway. and Mcnabb has plenty of firepower left in that arm of his, K. warner and K. Collins are both 37 this yr.

Bake McBride, You can't play football with the OB alone. It's obvious McNabb takes the hit for the rest of the marginal (at best) offense (except for Westbrook when he's healthy) and exhibits leadership when the team was pretty much left for dead before the playoffs. What is revealing is the Eagles are capable of mowing down any of the 3 teams left in the playoffs. Go Eagles!!!!

I think it is time for the McNabb fans who aren't Eagle fans to shut up and eat crow. They have a top, playmaking defense, their O-line didn't allow a sack against NY in 3 games. They have one of the most feared RBs in the league backed up by another who plays just as well and they have a strong and diverse receiving corp. All McNabb has to do is manage the game well and move the chains-- which he is doing very well-- and he will be carried to the Superbowl on the strength of this talented roster.

Oh, I love this Hofmann character. First he insisted the Eagles problems were not related to Andy's playcalling. Hey Rich, you saw how the balance attack worked yesterday, and for the most part during this amazing ride? You still think it was not the playcalling? And now, after picking against the Eagles Friday, he comes with this pathetic post: "Anybody who saw it coming 2 weeks ago is a true believer. Because nobody else did. Because this was not supposed to happen.'' Well, I guess you are not reading the comments in your own blog or others in philly.com. Heck, your own colleague Smalls had the Eagles winning and almost everybody on the Fox pregame show, with the exception of ex-Giant Strahan, had the Eagles winning. Stop trying to lick your elbow. And guys, enough with the McNabb bashing. Who cares if he picked up the phone. Enjoy the win and stop being bitter.
