End of McNabb Era
Whatever happens from here, the Donovan McNabb era is over in Philadelphia.
End of McNabb Era

I don't know yet what Eagles coach Andy Reid is going to say, about Donovan McNabb, about Thanksgiving night, about the future. But it is over. After his halftime benching against the Baltimore Ravens, the McNabb era in Philadelphia is over.Reid could very well keep his own counsel on this one. He could give it a day before announcing his decision because that is what he does. But we are finished here. McNabb is finished here. After three more turnovers in the first half against the Ravens -- three turnovers, zero points, oh well -- Reid yanked his starting quarterback and replaced him with young Kevin Kolb. And we are done.
After which, the Eagles completely rolled over and lost to the Ravens, 36-7.
Again, we are done. Ten years and over -- just like that. A few weeks ago, this was one of the highest-scoring offenses in the National Football League. Now, this is a group that cannot do anything. Running back Brian Westbrook has no first step, no burst, no nothing at this point because of a lingering ankle sprain. Backup Correll Buckhalter hurt his knee and barely played after the first couple of series. There is no third running back because Reid did not dress Lorenzo Booker. That this is borderline malpractice goes without saying.
But the quarterback was terrible, again. He started off decently but crumbled after a sack/fumble early in the second quarter. Two more interceptions followed, along with a streak of pronounced wildness. And then Reid made the decision that, whatever he says, will be impossible to undo. The Eagles were trailing by only 10-7 but he yanked the franchise.
That Kolb was no better just added to the whole downspiral. He threw two more interceptions, including one that the Ravens' Ed Reed returned 108 yards for a touchdown, an NFL record.
You see, you saw history.
Lots of history.

The defense isn't much better. They may not have been the problem today but they have been run all over this season. josieloowho

It is over now and by removing McD from the game only highlighed Reid's stupidity and inability to coach. He should have taken responsibility and resigned instead of throwing Donovan under the bus. WhatNow
Oh what could have been... My suggestion is simple... Reid resign to spend more time with his children -where he also failed..Reid is the epitome of ineptitude in high places. Perhaps he could assist the Adminstration in Washington ateempting to solve the financial chaos. For sentimental reasons, I hope McNabb can end his career in Chicago with a degree of dignity in front of his home town folks. It is the least we can do for him, a decent , honorable man who has been maltreated by the big bellied bully who speaks softly. bobodell
Reid understands his time is gone also. Look for him on the sidelines next year back at BYU or better yet a high school in the state of Utah. At least he drafted us Kevin Kolb, so the future is bright... joey4287
End of the McNabb Era. This is also the end of the Andy Reid era. I just expected Reid/McNabb to walk away with a bang at the end of the regular season, but this whimper has brought shame to the franchise. cgarison
The Eagles miserably predictable Offense and play calling is not MacNabb's fault. It's gonna take a new Coach with a belief in power running football to turn this ship around. MJPD345
Reid ain't fooling anybody. His ego is in survival mode. First McNabb goes under the bus, followed soon by Mr. Marty. Yo Andy, you think we're stupid. What part of "It's you!" don't you understand? ItalianSausage
I listened to the nfl channel interview and I feel Andy and McNabb are done. This team had all the potential to win this division in the start of the season. Andy Reid cannot control this team. Arizone is coming in to philly and will tear apart this team. I for one am ready to start the rebuilding process. Kolb is not the answer. 1200harley- So where do we go from here ???? Mctrash has a one way ticket out of town. thats one down. Can we please get rid of ANY REID his play calling is the worst. This guy is clueless on how to run the ball. Can someone tell me why they do not use Booker ???

Kolb looked better than McNabb did when he was similarly thrown to the wolves in the second half against TB in 1999. Let's see how he does the rest of the year. Reid, on the other hand, is an idiot, passing on 2nd and goal from the 3 inch line. Pump in a TD and get the offense and kid some confidence. jtj06
