Dawkins notices Denver is different

Different town, similar event.
Different town, different people.
So it was that Brian Dawkins attended the "Fan Fair" that his new team, the Denver Broncos, puts on in the off-season. The Eagles Youth Partnership holds a fan-oriented event during training camp. This year, in a bit of a change of concept, the Eagles will hold something they're calling "Flight Night" at Lincoln Financial Field on August 2 at 7 pm. It is an evening that will include a full team practice, fireworks, interactive games, cheerleaders and the like.
Anyway, Dawkins went to Denver's event over the weekend. The Denver Post asked him to compare Philadelphia fans to Denver fans, based upon this experience.
Here is what he saw:
"The Philly fans are a lot more aggressive," Dawkins said. "They're a lot louder as far as giving their opinions. The Denver fans are a little laid-back and I understand that. It's a different place. This is a beautiful place with the mountains. Philly is hustle and bustle."
Dawkins added that he knows the Denver region is crazy for the Bronocs, that "they're ready for some football."
But it isn't going to be the same. You know he knows it, too.
Dawk made his choice. I wish him luck..it's a done deal...so us Iggle fans need to move on .....Dawk did. merlinknghts

Denver is a great town and a great football town (Kutztown's John Mobley helped them win a couple Bowls a few years back with a team that ranked among the greats in NFL history-- I'm sure you remember that).. Game Day Sundays in Denver are beautiful and football is taken seriously. winston_smith
I wish him well in Denver. mikerainey82
Dr. Heller: Don't get too far ahead of yourself. I went to Denver for the Eagles game two years ago and the Broncos fans were violent and obnoxious. mikerainey82

I love how these Eagle employees post thier comments in here, in total homage to the altar of Laurie/Banner/Reid, etc. Reality check, you can kiss thier butts all you want, being an employee, but your bosses have shown, they will never win any gold, because all they care about is PLAYOFF booty money, which they barely backed into last year, thanks to the Raiders help. Dawkins may not win anything in Denver, but his former team, will do no better again this season, with the usual penny pinching, barley above NORMAN BRAMAN mentality. GalRand
To all of you "fans" that quote that this is a business from the Eagle fron office standpoint, remember it's a business from the players' standpoint also. Why stay here as an Eagle, when I can go elsewhere for more money? A player would be stupid if he did. A player's productive period is short, so he must maximize his earnings while he can. Loyalty is nice to talk about but it doesn't pay the bills. Why should a player show loyalty when the corporation doesn't? Raymond- What Banner and Lurie give McChoke, when they announce his "reworked contract", will make your head spin. What they offered Dawk was not market value or even close. With Dawk, the Eagles had a real team leader, with passion, talent and love of the fans...and he wasn't worth a better deal--even if he had lose a step in speed. But, just wait, they will open the checkbook for "The Eagles Greatest Quarterback Ever In The History Of The Franchise"...a choke artist with career stats build up by beating up on inferior teams like last years Detroit Lions and the St. Louis Rams. The fans will love Dawk in Denver, because he is sincere and genuinely cares about the fans. The only thing McChoke cares about is himself (and maybe Dion Sanders). Tomme
- I would love to see Dawk back in Philly as a coach when he hangs the cleats up. I was stunned by the fact that he left but once you get over the emotional impact you really can't blame him for going for such a huge deal and you can't blame the birds for not offering to match it.
- Seems to me there's a bit of hiprocracy going on here - when a player out performs his contract the sentiment is 'tough - you signed it" but, when a player waits until he's a free agent then its 'he's not worth that much, his best years are behind him'. Well, which is it? Shouldn't Dawkins be allowed to epect that the Eagles would pay him AT LEAST market value? If anyone offered him 1 penny more to play somewhere else, why not? It's not like you guys would be cutting him any break!!
i will miss bdawk and he is def one of my favorite players ever... that said, they better have lots of roids in denver GoPhils09
The Eagles should have never let him get away. If Banner and Reid were creative they would have structured a deal for Dawk including a guarantee to be a secondary coach upon his retirement. Who better to teach your players about leadership on and off the field. The Marco Islander

What WON'T be missed is his actual play. while he COULD have played for us this year, it would have been in a reduced, and more structured role.....which he would have chaffed at! I DO wish, however, that before any final decision was reached that both parties could have had a 10 minute closed room face to face meeting. That way there would be none of the vagaries thrown around by each side subsequent to the Denver signing. In fact, I mightily hope for that very scenario to be installed by the team in ALL negotiations with veterans at the end of their contracts. Maybe we wouldn't lose someone with something still to offer the team. Yeah, right....who am I kidding? yeah, an exit interview
