Wednesday morning, an Eagles source confirmed two previously-reported facts on the potential DeSean Jackson holdout.

1) In most seasons, if a player isn't in training camp by the schedule reporting time -- for the Eagles, that is 5 pm Wednesday at Lehigh -- he is considered a holdout. This year, not so much. Adam Caplan reported Tuesday on 97.5 The Fanatic that, because of the short notice following the lockout, players on teams with Wednesday reporting dates would not be considered holdouts until Thursday. A club sourcenow confirms this. So if Jackson does not show up by 5 pm, it will be symbolic but it won't be official.

2) The club, according to the source, continues to have no idea what Jackson is going to do.

About this blog
Rich Hofmann arrived at the Daily News in 1980 for a job whose status was officially designated as "full-time, temporary." A senior at Penn at the time, he was hired to fill in on the copy desk during a staff illness. The notion of him covering the Eagles or being a columnist did not exist in anyone's imagination. It was supposed to be six weeks and out, but he never left. It is only one of the reasons why so many people have concerns about him as a potential house guest. Rich has blogged the postseasons of the Flyers and Eagles. E-mail Rich at hofmanr@phillynews.com Reach Rich at hofmanr@phillynews.com.
