Beyonce, James Taylor and Kelly Clarkson will serenade President Obama at his second inaugural Jan. 21.
More than a few Philadelphians will be in the crowd to watch, including Mayor Nutter, and three of his top staffers, Terry Gillen, Tumar Alexander, and Desiree Peterkin-Bell. Two employees from the mayor’s security detail will accompany them.
Nutter, of course, was a strong supporter of Obama, and Peterkin-Bell recently returned to the mayor’s staff after working on the president’s re-election campaign. The mayor already will be in Washington D.C. for a meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, of which he is president. The mayor’s group will pay Nutter’s travel costs, and the city will pick up the tab for everyone else. Mark McDonald, a spokesman for Nutter, said he did not yet have an estimate of those costs.
