More cops; strict curfew
Mayor Nutter says he is going to put more police on the street this weekend and strictly enforce curfew for young people in response to recent problems.
More cops; strict curfew
Miriam Hill
Mayor Nutter said Friday that he would put more police on street patrol and make sure they enforce curfews for young people in an effort to prevent crimes caused by children and teens randomly attacking people in the city.
"To the few who think they can get away with acting violently and disrespecting our city, you will be caught, and there are serious consequences," Nutter said in a news release.
The city's current curfew law says children under the age of 13 must be home by 10 p.m., and young people between the ages of 13 and 18 must be home by midnight.

Yes lifecoach.... White kids don't have this animal behavior in them like these little monkeys! pritter- hey yawl, speaking of flash-mobs, I just saw "Rise of the Planet of the Apes." I was truly amazed by the socio-economic, and cultural difference that parallel what is going on in this city.
I wish a flash mob of poorly raised kids would try and attack me. Mr. Glock 30 and 2 extra 10 round mags say that I'd come out of it with few bruises.......law abiding citizens need to lay a couple of them to rest and I'd bet the problem would go away. MrBigDizzle
If the thugs involved in this type of activity are minors the parents should be held responsible also. Control your children or pay the consequences. If parents receive any type of government welfare it should be terminated. I'm tired of hearing what the city government, police, schools etc. should do. They are your children get them under control. mindstorms
@teksys, what DixonBunz said.
@lifecoachservices4liberals, you're in idiot. Can white folks be exempt from the attacks too?
@Nutter and the police, the curfew would curtail about 0 of the attacks. Although some of the kids are as young as 11, most a are a little older, and most of the attacks occur before midnight. Further, this just means that on top of assault, they should be charged with a curfew violation as well. And what if they don't have proof of age? And what will you do with them when they're in violation of curfew, ask them to go home? So far, this "new strategy" would have prevented nothing, charged 4 people with a curfew violation, and sentenced them to counseling. Bravo. T
It's spreading to wisconsin, now too. google it. mobs of black yoots, beating white people for no other reason than they're white. this is an interstate hate crime and the feds should be handling it. it's too big a problem for this city. the feds need to make examples of some of these thugs. not likely to happen, though. eaglesfillthesky
The punks involved in these mobs should be given a 1-2 year minimum sentence in jail or juvenile detention center. In addition, their parents should be held financially liable for the damages and compensate those injured. Lowlife punk thugs.....I wish they could see this, but that would require the ability to read. Tar Heel 1

Violently attacking someone is dead wrong! But we need to Create program for these kids, most of these kids involve in these “Flash Mob” are not harden criminals, just kids that need direction & guidance. I challenge any of you to ride through the city & see what Recreation centers are open at night. Most Centers lights are off (Rec. Centers are dark), way before curfew hours does it make more sense to monitor and engage with these young people in their community that deal with them in Center City. ya ya- Not hardened criminals? Your definition of hardened is a little different from mine and most of the commenters. Anyone who makes a conscious effort to join a group and assault people fit the criteria of "hardened." Stop minimizing criminal behavior! mjc1
