The overtime fine in Center City is going from $25 to $35. Fines for other parking violations are going up too. The increases were approved by City Council this afternoon.

Park in a bus stop and you'll get whacked $75 rather than the current $40. The full fine schedule is below.

More details later.

seems like the revenue from this should fund better SEPTA service if they want people to take transit...of course, they may want the money NOT people riding SEPTA.

Hey - here's an idea: read the signs and follow the rules of the road, and maybe you won't get a ticket! In NY, you get a ticket for $115 for parking in a "No Standing" zone. They make good money from their tickets. Philly's broke. Hmmm...

I second Perot -- what is their definition of CC, the new one or the old one?

I agree we need to have fines in Philly closer to what NYC has. Maybe not $120, but closer. That's the real deal that says time to read the signs, folks. They have to start ticketing above Washington Ave., also. People just park in any handicapped ramp, close to stop signs and you can't see around them, stop in the bus lanes so that traffic stops while people get out in the street, it's off the hook. Come on PPA, go below South St. and who cares if these are people going to church? They can respect the rules too. No parking on sidewalks, period, I don't care if you are the pastor. Petition for a legit parking space like everyone else.

You could write a ticket every day for $50 for the folks who park on the sidewalk in front of the church at Grays Ferry and Fitzwater. Enough folks. Follow the rules, just like the commandments or pay the big ticket. Time to write some big money out for the city and save the Point Breeze Library.

@utleyfoolz: uh huh, sure, 'cause republican led cities don't have parking fines, you know, like NYC. Oh, wait.

Another reason to avoid Philadelphia, the already corrupt Parking Authority is just waiting for suckers to have the red flag go up on your meter.
