Trump's new salvo against on Foxwoods

The casino investors behind Donald Trump's failed Philadelphia slots project plan to file a petition Thursday with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to re-open the bidding process.

The action is the second legal missive from Trump's group in a month. On Dec. 18, the Trump partners filed a federal lawsuit in Harrisburg, challenging the board for not awarding them a license because Trump had competing operations in New Jersey.

This latest Trump petition comes as Foxwoods Casino is trying to relocate from the waterfront in South Philadelphia to The Gallery in Center City.

The petition says the backers of Foxwoods have failed to develop a project in accordance with their license. The Trump group says the "default" necessitates re-opening of the licensing process.

Facing strong neighborhood resistance, City Hall opposition and delays, the Foxwoods group agreed to consider moving off the waterfront.

The backers have said, however, that if they fail to get the necessary city and state support to make a move, they would stay on the waterfront.

Trump and his supporters were planning to build a slots parlor in North Philadelphia at the site of the former Budd plant.

Trump's critics have said that any delay he can cause in Pennsylvania will keep competition away from his two Atlantic City operations.
