Councilman Jim Kenney has legislation on the table to have the Philadelphia Parking Authority, instead of the city, oversee the Wild West that is towing operations in the city.
That proposal follows legislation he already got passed requiring that illegaly parked cars be ticketed before they can be towed from private properties and driveways.
In a letter to towing operators Monday, Kenney advised that they have until Nov. 12 to comply with the ticketing regulation. Failure to do so could result in revocation of towing licenses. Towing companies also have until that date to including information on signs saying that people can pay towing fees with credit or debit cards.
We'll see what happens next on the towing legal front.
