Superbowl halftime producer signs on for DNC

Emmy Award winning producer Ricky Kirshner and long-time creative producer Vicangelo Bulluck will together plan and implement stage design, lighting, music and entertainment for the political party at the Well’s Fargo Center.

Two entertainment industry heavyweights have signed on to produce the Democratic National Convention.

Emmy Award winning producer Ricky Kirshner and long-time creative producer Vicangelo Bulluck will together plan and implement stage design, lighting, music and entertainment for the political party at the Wells Fargo Center July 25-28.

Organizers have said they will raise $84 million to cover the cost of the convention – that's nearly double the papal visit.

Kirshner is a 9-time Emmy winner who has worked on every convention since 1992 – including the last Democratic National Convention in Charlotte. He produced Obama's inauguration, every Tony Awards ceremony since 1993 and every Superbowl Halftime show since 2007.

"It is a great honor to once again be a part of the DNCC Production Team," Kirshner said in a release. "We look forward to bringing to the world the message of the party and our nominee in many new, fresh, and exciting ways."

For ten years Bulluck produced the NAACP Image Awards which have paid tribute to  Sidney Poitier, Oprah Winfrey, Bono and then Senator Barack Obama.

He was the Managing Director of Outreach and Special Events for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences where he implemented their diversity and international initiatives, and managed the production of several awards shows. Bulluck also opened the Hollywood Bureau office of the national NAACP and was its first executive director.

"This will be the most digitally-integrated convention in history, with a reach far beyond the walls of the convention hall," said Bulluck in a release.
