What is the status of the Republican City Chair?

POSTED: Wednesday, September 15, 2010, 2:33 PM

There were so many irregularities in this summer's election of Vito Canuso as chairman of the Republican City Committee that the party must hold a new election, a GOP state committee has decided.

It's not clear yet what the decision means for Canuso, who was not immediately available for comment. Ward leaders elect the party chair, and there were disagreements about which ward leaders had been elected legitimately. Canuso said he won the vote, but backers of Al Schmidt, a former city controller candidate who now works for state Republicans, said he had won. Kevin Kelly, who is trying to reform the City Committe and oust Canuso, brought the issue to the credentials committee of the Pennsylvania Republican party.

On Thursday, the credentials committee told the parties they would have to hold a new election.

What do you mean Bill? There's lots of things you can say about Brady - but he doesn't have to rig his election to chair. There are deep divisions that the Republcans are facing - this didn't go well at all.

Yeah it's the Dems' fault because the GOP has issues.

"the Philly robo-voters just vote the way their reverends, union goons, block captains, and Hollywood stars that fly in for a few hours tell them to vote. It beats thinking." Then tell us genius, why should they vote Republican? Instead of offering nothing but ridicule and personal attacks like the ignoramus that you are, please provide some wonderful insight into the Republican platform in the city and the plans that the GOP as for the city. I always find it humorous that the same nitwit conservatives post their vile comments here about the voters because the Republican party is in shambles in this city. As if it's everyone else's fault as usual according to these sheep.

"Bob Brady rigged putting his wife on the PHA board to rig contracts and and money to less than stellar friends of his Democrats." Again, what does this have to do with Republican issues? As usual, ignore the topic at hand and try to change the subject. Wah, it's the Dem's fault.

The Inky/DN are back on the auction block and Bob Brady's Carpenter's Union is in the hunt. That means there will be NO stories in this paper that are critical of Machine Boss Brady and his corrupt friends. More of the same from these "newspapers"

The "issue" that Republicans had were that they blocked black registered Republicans from running for wards and prevented them from voting. That's why they need to do it over again. They couldn't fix it other than by redoing it. What? It's a big surprise that Republicans are racists? Oh, let's just pretend what we know is true isn't.

They didn't block a guy for his race. They blocked him because they are the Washington Generals of Philly politics and don't want the Loyal Opposition to ruin the PPA fiefdom that they receive in return for intentionally losing to the Dems 100% of the time.
