Redevelopment Authority selects new executive director

Gregory Heller, the CEO of nonprofit development corporation American Communities Trust, will take the helm of the redevelopment authority.

The Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority Board selected a new executive director today.

Gregory Heller, the CEO of nonprofit development corporation American Communities Trust, will take the helm of the redevelopment agency.

Heller, 34, will fill the vacancy left by Brian Abernathy, who is now the first deputy managing director.

Prior to working at the Baltimore-based American Communities Trust, Heller worked for Philadelphia-based Econsult Solutions and the Enterprise Center Community Development Corporation in West Philadelphia.

He is the author of "Ed Bacon: Planning, Politics, and the Building of Modern Philadelphia."

Heller starts at PRA on April 4. His salary will be $135,000.
