Yesterday, we exclusively reported that about 2,000 city employees and employee spouses are past due on their property taxes. Take a look if you were at the shore this weekend.

So, this blog posting is reporting that the Inquirer reported something yesterday? NickEeee
They have to, because the whole rest of the paper seems to not want to acknowledge this important article. There's no commentary by the editorial board, which is suddenly intrigued by religious freedom in China instead, even as the state faces a budget crisis here. CleanupPhilly
That article got the most positive response of any article I've read in a long time in the Ink or DN. It just goes to show that the only options facing the city are not just cutting police, fire, and services to kids, but collecting overdue property taxes, and addressing wastefulness. There is a way. Why are some people fighting it? CleanupPhilly
I was hoping to see some follow up on the response from city officials on how exactly they plan to address this $425 million in property taxes owed for more than a year NOW. CleanupPhilly
Meanwhile the silence from the city is deafening. There's no press release, no position statement from anyone in Nutter's administration or Council offices. There's no comment from Dwight Evans or any state rep so far as I can tell. No one is saying Philly must collect overdue property taxes before we raise taxes on those who do pay. I recommend you answer that silence with a little noise. Just tell Harrisburg NO. No to more personal income taxes, no to an increased Philly sales tax, no to pension refi/payment delay, because it just bails Philly out from coping with what it must do on property taxes: http://www.stoppataxhike.com/ CleanupPhilly
