On your morning commute...inflatable Eagles head

If you get off the subway at City Hall this morning, be prepared to walk through a huge inflatable black tunnel leading to the mouth of an Eagles beak.

If you get off the subway at City Hall this morning, be prepared to walk through a huge inflatable black tunnel leading to the mouth of an Eagles beak.

As you cross through that tunnel, audio of roaring fans plays and green neon lights guide the path toward a group of cheering public relations people encouraging you to flap your wings, an Eagles' brass band and cheerleaders.

Happy Friday before the Eagles-Cowboy's game, Philadelphia.

In an effort to spread some Eagles' cheer in a dreary season and on a dreary morning, Verizon teamed up with Erwin Penland, an advertising firm, to set up the inflatable tunnel – and a TV at Dilworth Plaza where people can watch folks come through it.

Reactions varied from celebratory to freaked out to completely aloof. Some people got off the subway, walked above ground and dodged the experience all together.

Others sprinted through flapping their wings the whole way. Some in a morning daze were too distracted to realize what was happening – at least until the loud smoke blast greeted them on the other side.

"What the ----," said Stephen Uren, 22. "I figured it was some left over Halloween thing, didn't really expect the smoke," he said.

Marquise Clark, 18, did a touchdown dance once he made it out. Will it help fans believe in the 3-4 team? "I hope so," Clark said. "I hope Chip knows what he's doing, at least for next year."

Kevin Brown left his North Philadelphia house today dressed in an Eagles sweatshirt and baseball hat not knowing he'd put on the perfect gear for the commute. "I'll still rep my team no matter what," he said "I think it's great. What other city does this?"

Indeed.
