Nutter the arts advocate before U.S. House committee

Mayor Nutter will represent the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, asking Congress to preserve the for $180 million National Endowment for the Arts budget.

Nutter is scheduled to testify before the House of Representatives' Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior and Environment  with witnesses including actors Jeff Daniels and Kyle MacClachlan. The hearing begins at 10:30 a.m. and you can find the webcast on the House Appropriations Committee website here.

Nutter will note organizations benefiting from NEA funding here, including free and low-cost programs at the The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Orchestra Arts in the Park series and neighborhood concerts, the Kimmel Center and Philadelphia Dance Company. He is also expected to defend the use of stimulus dollars for arts programs, according to the Mayor's Office.
