Wadell Ridley, Jr., executive director of the Mayor’s Office of Community Service, has submitted his resignation, effective Friday.

He said in an interview this afternoon that he was leaving for a new job. “At this time I cannot disclose what it is. However, it is the best thing for my family and I,” he said.

Hired 18 months ago at the start of the Nutter administration, Ridley earned $91,361. As executive director of MOCS, he oversaw 90 employees and a $12 million budget.

Ridley previously worked as a former assistant vice president of government relations for St. Joseph’s University.

“It’s our sense that even in a short period of time, he is leaving MOCS in a much better place than where he found it,” Nutter spokesman Doug Oliver said.

Yeah, alleviating poverty isn't important. Plus, it isn't the City's money.

Nutter needs to eliminate MOCS.

How effective is MOCS at doing what the do? Of course alleviating poverty is important, but aren't there myriad other agencies working in the area? Does MOCS need to exist as well?

Shame on Nutter if the new vacancy is filled

To Philly Phorever, Yes, MOCS does need to exist if the City want to continue to get the 12 million in federal grant funding that it receives. The City could probably do a better job in using the money, but they won't get it if MOCS doesn't exist.

Abandon ship, the USS Nutter is sinking, how many more will leave. This city can't keep good people. North and West of the City have no appreciation for what they have here and it can't be promoted with crime and taxes looming over everyone's heads. Nutter brought in too many people at high pay, higher than Street or Rendell and they are leaving in droves because he is a bad fiscal manager of this city. Do not vote for him or City Council (imbiciles) in the next elections. Forget what party you are with change to Independent registration, no guilt.
