City to employees: party on your own time

City to employees: party on your own time

City workers get a vacation schedule that most private sector employees can only dream of. But city Managing Director Camille Cates Barnett (not a Philly native, obviously) sent city workers a terse note yesterday letting them know playing hooky to attend the parade was not acceptable.

"We have received several inquiries about City employees taking time off for the Phillies parade on Friday 10/31.

Everyone is expected to work a full day tomorrow. You may take a personal day or a vacation day but you must go through the normal procedures for getting approval from your supervisor.

Thanks to all of those involved for your extra effort in making this Phillies parade a success."
