Mayor Nutter today said he's unaware of any city policy barring employees from bringing their pets to work, but that doing so could prove "a bit of a distraction."

Tell that to Managing Director Camille Barnett.

The Daily News reports that Barnet this week brought her two Yorkshire terriers to work with her at the Municipal Services Building, and also asked her staff to walk the pooches and give one of them eyedrops.

Barnett left for vacation yesterday and won't return until Nov. 9, according to her office.

Nutter, talking to reporters after a news conference about his tax policy task force, said he had not read the newspaper report nor spoken with Barnett about the dogs.

"I don't know the report is accurate," he said.

Then, noting that he has in the past met the "very little dogs" at Barnett's Center City home, the mayor said, "It is not my impression this happens on a regular basis."

Woof!

This seems highly inappropriate.

Maybe the dogs can be given a job at the BRT.

This is nothing compared to the wildly corrupt practices that have been going on for decades. Maybe one of the dogs will climb to the tower and threaten to jump now that they're found out.

Time for a city-wide policy: no pets at work. Political patronage, corruption, theft, no-show jobs, racism are all okay, however.

OK, Here's some facts: This is another example of how disconnected and self important these people in city gov't are. Mayor Nutless is,again, unwilling to man up and do the right thing after being informed of this latest embarrassment.People, stop voting for the same old same old you liberal fools and puppets!

I thought that the only dogs allowed indoors in public places were seeing eye dogs?

Well, it could be worse, they could have a police escort like she does.

gottogo - Nutter was responding on the spot to an anonymous accusation which had only been relayed to him by a reporter. For him to take or promise any specific action beyond promising to learn more would have been completely inappropriate.

"It is not my impression this happens on a regular basis." What bringing the dogs to work or having city paid staff care after them? Come on, really? Hopefully this isn't true.

I'm surprised the dogs aren't on the City payroll.

What if you are on the staff and you are allergic to dogs?

Board your dogs if you are going on vacation. Take care of your own damn dogs.

Yorkies are busy, noisy little buggers. Inappropriatedness in City Hall is a matter of routine. This is just another instance, like Mayor Nutter said - "...not on a regular basis." So, it's OK for top City Hall staff to be out of place, as long as it's not every day!
