City Hall tower reopens

Philadelphia's City Hall tower has reopened to tours. It had been closed since Sept. 22, when a crack was discovered in the structure.

Tours to the tower and its observation deck resumed last week. The crack, found on the north side, may have been caused by the earthquake a month earlier that rocked the East Coast.

During the repair project, Occupy Philadelphia protesters moved part of their encampment to allow a crane to work on the tower.

At 548 feet, the tower is the tallest load-bearing masonry structure in the world.

For tours and tower admission, go to Room 121 at City Hall or call 215-686-2840.
